Ducati 750 Monster Vs Cagiva Raptor?

Which out of the above 2 mentioned bikes would you rather have, why and have you ridden or owner either of them? I'm going to try test ride them as soon as I can but I thought until then I'll try find out as much info on the both of them as I can so please... Debate away!

The Monster is pretty damn close to sex on wheels IMO, but then, I like them Ducati brrrrrrmmmmmm. I haven't ridden either.... yet. Happy test riding!

What size Raptor 650 / 1000 ? both great motors been SV or TL power plants nice & reliable & handle pretty well for average suspenion they have . The Monster are a good bike as well motor lacks abit of power for a 750cc
V-Twin & handling is good for the little adjustment that is offered on them but not to Jap standards , motor need to be keep tuned to get the best from it but are fairly robust unit . Ride both & see what takes your fancy .

I'd rather get the 900 monster but I doubt I'd be able to afford it. Will definitely be test riding both of them once I can find a bike store with them in store

Have mate with the 1000 raptor that I have put a radial front brake onto so he has some brakes as the Master cylinder on them is very poor but have Goldline brembos calipers which are great , once changed it has excellent braking now & have got him to get the Ohlins guy here to put some gear into the front forks as they don't have any adjustment on them so are abit budget in the handling as is the rear shock which he has fitted a Ohlins spring to as well now . Good fun bike with low seat height & plenty of drive from the TL based motor .

put them side by side and they are pretty similar, the same guy designed them and the raptor has about 30 more horses

Where the hell are you looking where the price is the other way around?

I bought a Ducati 600ss coz I couldn't aford a SV650 or a Hyosung 650 by the way. Ducatis start around $5,000 from my experience.....where is this myth of expensive Ducatis coming from? Unless you are drifiting into the realms of the multi valved liquid cooled beasties (which are not really Ducatis but are just Jap twin wannabes! )

even though the cagive has a super good suzuki motor the rest of the bike build quality is somewhat suspect by memory and from the caregivers I have worked on this wouldn't be a surprise. The Ducati would probably(hopefully) be of better build quality but try to avoid a asian imported if you can, only because have heard (other mechanic's) of three recent bottom end failures from them sitting and corrosion forming on bearing faces.
but at end of the day your the one who'll be investing and riding it. So undoubtably you'll get the one YOU want. Enjoy.

i bought a 900 monster s.i.e, mainly cos i couldnt afford a street tripple, the monster is a dam fine bike, a little to tall in the gearing but it is just so much fun to ride, its easy to handle, corners well, sounds and vibes sweet, plenty of after market parts aswell, mines stock standard jap import, 1st nz owner and i got it for a sweet price, it has really grown on me over the last 4 months, i dont know if i could sell it, i love it.
