DMNTD continues to, er, not be slower than me. I might have to do something about that at some point.

Great video Biggles - fantastic to see the bike ridden really well!!

I was there on the black road ZX-6R, getting a little faster and enjoying every minute. Looking forward to stepping up a little bit more next time.

    Cheers

Cheers again to MotoTT for the day (and the FREE trackday for next time!!! Haha, stoked!!)

Had heaps of things to test and was a bit unsure of the bike for the first couple of sessions:

    First time on Metzeler Racetechs
First time in over a year on new, unshagged tyres
First time in over a year using a 180 rear
First time with new Racetech internals just fitted by Robert Taylor
First time this year riding without the back up of a steering damper

…but by 3rd session I had a new PB of 1:38.5 without really pushing it too much. Stoked with that!

Bike was handling MILES better than it ever has, and grip was in abundance. Heaps of improvement to come, especially in the infield where after I got tired I was slowing my transitions down big time by using the bars to pull myself back over instead of my legs.

Lesson of the day being that race bike geometry really does need a steering damper! Even on a mostly smooth track. In the 4th session I Decided I was on a pretty hot lap after I’d gotten through the A1 corner so thought I’d push for a PB. Got a good line through the sweeper and with a fair bit of confidence in the rear grip of the 180 by now, I jammed the gas on hard when almost upright for a mean drive. Not a hint of rear wheelspin but the front did not like the bumps on the exit near the edge of the track and I ended up both feet off the pegs and arse off the seat barely able to hold on to the side of the seat with my boot. Not pretty but kept it up and ended the day happy

Hopefully get the front end sorted so that I’m not bottoming out in the corners and chewing tyres, then bring on Wanganui!!!

Was checking ya out there Johan (your riding mate don't get too excited)
and you were looking good out there mate !
I know i know i spent far too much time at the wall ! haha shit happens (but not twice)
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Pfft I let you pass me ! I was the first bike on your video Motard.

I had a good day to spent the day testing out the mods done the day before hand, new Carb jets n needles and a few adjustments here and there, the bike was alot snappier on the throttle, I still need a Akropovic system to get another 7 hp out of it (currently 45.5hp) before the tri series.
Other than that played with suspension a fair bit and the last session I had a Taupo setting soughted (I think) certainly felt better with less bogging in the corners.

I have to say one thing about it all, Motards in the Fast group is not a choice so some of you super fast sportsbikes need to get the fuck over it and give us a bit of room when passing us, on at least two occasions I got cut up (big time) on that fast back corner due to unwillingness to make room or slow down a bit for a squlliy second, you are way faster on the straight bits so a bit more space would be nice as its only a trackday, even if I do beat may of you on the corners
Ive run out of fucks to give
