Best thing to do is go down to your bike dealer and try everything on...you'll find one brand that fits better than others...
As for noise.... they are all noisey....just wear earplugs..![]()
its all about fit.
I cant wear agv helmets as they dont fit my head shape.
I have an arai which is very very comfy but noisier than i would like.
I also have a shark, not quite as comfy but much quieter.
I also really like shoei helmets for comfort but having only tried them in store
i cant comment on noise.
i truely believe you get what you pay for and would NEVER wear a cheap lid.
unfortunately i would class HJC as cheap (sorry)
Agreed although I'd qualify further by saying there's no point spending mega bucks on a lid deisgned for 300+kph impacts and abrasion if you're only going to wear it around town.
There's no need to go overboard, and indeed a number of tests show more $$$ doesn't necessarily mean less pain or damage. (The tests have been referenced in here previously - it's late and I'm too lasy to find them).
HJC would be fine for me personally so long as the fit was good.
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details
I agree with MDU here, helmet fit for purpose that fits your budget is best.
I have a Shoei, fits my head better somehow, and it is lighter than the HJC which suits my neck strength too!
Interesting thing I learned last weekend. I find my Shoei noisy riding pillion, have even resorted to using ear plugs sometimes. Riding my own bike however it is quiet as.
Nothing wrong with HJC Helmets (if they fit your pumpkin). They have several models and price ranges.
Somewhere on here is a very interesting new British helmet test where many mega buck name brands give poor results...........but we won't mention that as it upsets people.
Funny I just quit my cheap Box helmet for a new M9 FFM and it's the best lid I've worn and very quiet not to mention pretty sharp looking. HJC is a good hat too but avoid the cheap ones and spend a couple more bucks if you can stretch it a tad
I've recently purchased a new helmet and after trying on a few, including the upmarket brands, ended up getting an FFM M9.
It fits really well, has good peripheral vision, feels light, and is pretty quiet with ear plugs. Good price as well.
“- He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.”
Find one that fits at a price that you won't be too upset chucking it when you drop it or it gets past it's use by date. No point spending max dollars on a lid and then keeping it for 5 years and after it's been droped 15 time because "It cost me $1200". A new cheap helmet replaced often is better than a shagged expensive one.
i try the upmarket sharks bad pherifernal vision and really fiddlely visor catch a pain with gloves on but they were a good fit , tryed shoei found they dont suit my head shape. in the end i ended up with shark s800 good fit good vision good visor mechanism, iam gett used to the seat blt buckle( no where near as a pro helmet i had years ago) and the price was not too scary at $429
