Even though I'm a strong believer that there shouldn't be a Green Party in Government, when one compares Green parties in say Europe, most of them come off and being reasonably intelligent and even a small percentage of their policies actually work. However, as one would expect, the Green party in NZ is an embarrassment. Their policies are a joke and they're all butt ugly losers.

Of course I do. They involve duct tape, a shovel and a big bag of lime.

MMP... I'm not sure how having a minority party effectively calling the shots and deciding who's in government is still a democracy?

Do some research on how C-O-A-L-I-T-I-O-N governments work all over the world...

Then compare with how democratic the old first past the post was when one party like national could govern on the strength it's usual 30% support base.

Face it that's their lot here 30% and fuck all friends - except Act, Roger, Mugabe, Mussolini oh and a guy called Adolf ha ha ha

Democracy is where parties elected by a big chuck of the electorate are held to ransom by fringe-group nutters? Thanks for clearing that up for us.

List MPs should be allocated proportionally on top of the electorate seats, giving more influence to members who actually have a direct mandate from their constituencies - dunno what that system's called, some wonk will no doubt inform us.

I guess it will be labour's perogative whether they enlist support from certain minor parties accepting that they will also have policies they want to advance (on behalf of the people that voted for them)...

too bad National will have neither the numbers nor any credible coalition partners to do just that...what do you have to do to get the Torys in these days? More air time to Guyon on one? Duncan on three? Give away the Dominion Post/NZ Herald? Stop immigration? Execute foreigners or the poor?
