2nd gear prob

I have a 1988 Rgv250 which the second gear cant shift into 1st while stationary, you have to do so when you roll to a stop. And sometimes when changing from 1st to 2nd it goes into neutral about 2/10 times. Ive had the bike for about 17 months and it hasn't gotten worse.

I'm wanting to sell the bike, but this problem might put buyers off. So i was wondering at a guess how much would it cost to have the 2nd gear fixed? would it be worth doing so. Or would getting a gearbox oil change help? I have no problems with the other gears.

He bad news is that the gbox isn’t the best, but first issue sounds like the selector movement or even clutch drag (does it change down ok when not running?) The good news is that the gearboxes were cassette & simple to remove in situ. The final bad news is 2nd hand parts will be likely the same.
