It was also company policy where I used to work for us to have our hoist certs, both for fork hoists and for stock pickers.

The stock picker was fun, but I am not a fan of hoists, so I fixed that problem.

When it came time to test, I did mine on the small 2,500kg electric one, meaning while everyone else is rated to 15,000kg hoists, I am only rated for small hoists up to 2,500kg... of course, we had nothing that small at work, so oh dear, no hoist work in the rain for me!

Welcome to the club (x2). I have been driving them for about 9 years now and always love forklift work. I am seriously thinking about becoming a trainer to teach people the skills needed for forklift driving...

i can vouch for that. it's easy to get complacent at 2or3 in the morning (after 8+years forklift driving),when you're feeling a little tired.

what brands do you guys drive?
the company i work for,has just changed to "linde",and they are very comfortable and ergonomic compared to the non adjustable seat,old hunks of junk we were driving.

I have been driving what was (for a while) a brand new nissan 18 petrol, its an awesome machine for a baby, super responsive and the mast is still as tight as after 6000 hours, its good having new gear

unfortunately,our gear doesn't stay in good nick very long,as it gets used 24/7,in some pretty tight spaces,and by some people who couldn't care less.

just out of curiousity,is it everybodies company policy to wear seat belts?
that has just been implemented in the last three months at my work.it's a real pain in the butt,cause we have to get on and off very frequently.

I have driven Crown, Toyota, Komatsu, Hyster, Nissan and EB forklifts. Best one for me has been the Toyotas by far, Crown are good to drive too with the controls just by your right hand side instead of by the steering column, worst one is EB, which is a Chinese Toyota knockoff...

I have also gained experience on reach trucks and love using them....

Never had to wear a seatbelt on a forklift, although probably should...

I have done many hours on crown electrics, I found the side controls too low for comfort (aways having a slumped shoulder = pain), I always prefered the good old 3 stick myself, play it like a piano.
also the crowns were too clever for their own good, they used to piss me off something wicked with their lift, seat and tilt sensors, and silly led display. I want my machine to do exactly what I ask of it, even if I am wrong.

I have never been required to wear a seatbelt, and I notice the alert on my current ride has been disabled...

I work for a small construction company, we have 9 diggers, 8 dumptrucks, 15 utes, and plenty of assorted heavy and light equipment, and everything is fucked in some way or other, even the workshop heater it drives me nuts, some days I get soooo septic...... useless cunts .......

the trouble at my work is,that fonterra has too much money to waste,and none of it is theirs,so they don't care either.
