Relax folks. Garston is the most inland point in New Zealand and has generally dry weather. Central Otago climate. There might be a bit of wind and rain but it will pass and it sounds like Woodybee has arranged a big marquee anyway. See y'all tomorrow.

Just got back from the site, I'll be heading back there tonight.
Rain has stopped and roads are dry.
Someone that arrived from Invercargill said that they didn't strike the rain until Lumsden anyway.

There's a HUGE marquee there and a pub across the road.
All good really.

Have searched this thread for the location - can't find it. One post says Waikaia but the title says Garston. I don't want to get pissed on just to find an empty field at either location. If I can get firm confirmation of the EXACT location (none of the usual vague she'll be right directions I usually get!) I will try to get there after familial chores tomorrow.

Otherwise I'l just wait until next year.

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with regards to just coming up for the day. Unable to get out of a prior comitments on Friday & Saturday night but might be able to crusie up on Saturday and join he ride to glenorcy and be home before curfew. Would you still have to registar? Would most likely want to have a look around the site to but don't want to come across as a bit shady by claiming at the gate only having a look around if that is not the norm???

What ride to Glenorchy? If it's a proper bike rally no-one will be sober enough to walk the length of themself on Saturday let alone ride

GARSTON is the place, not too far south of Kingston (about 20kms) which is at the bottom end of Lake Wakatipu (Queenstown) on the main road, few houses, 2 churches and a pub!!

Riding in the rain is one thing... if you need to, but STARTING riding in the rain is never fun.
Watch out ... you might be the one developing webbed feet...
