The Democrats are still more right-wing on economic and social policy than either of the big NZ parties.

But, as with our own upcoming election, it's more about credibility and perceived attitudes. NZ Labour and the Bush Administration have both shot themselves in the foot with arrogant legislation that wastes taxpayer resources and stomps all over the rights of citizens.

Time for a change.

Very true. Both Labour and National would be considered VERY liberal and left wing compared to the Democratic party in the US.

Just the fact that NZ has national health care puts it into the socialist camp to most Americans.
