    Any planners around?

Why do u put short term parking close to retail centers and long term further away?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Because it takes longer to walk to the retail centers from further away. See, our planners are smart.

Most employees would then park in the long term parking, freeing up the short term parking for customers....

People wouldn't be arsed walking ten minutes when they want to "pop down to the shops".

so they are encouraging the lower spending customers of which they hope will be high volumes.

people who are doing a shopping expedition won't give as much of a rats....

ok this is what ive got

Short term parking should be provided close to retail outlets to encourage efficient parking for consumers but not providing long term parking for workers. Consumers will park as close as possible to the destination because it’s easy to carry a large amount of goods back to the vehicle. Providing the long term parking further away from the main retail centers encourages workers to park away from the close short term parking so that the consumers, who often park for a small amount of time, are encouraged to come to the particular retail area.
    The benefits of separate short term and long term parking, mainly include;
    • Retail car parks are not clogged up with workers cars who do not provide any income to the business
    • Safety – a less congested car park is a safer car park
    • You can charge more per hour for short term car park, bringing in more revenue to the business’s
    • Long term parking further away from the retail center can promote public transport like the park in ride idea. Drive to a car park, and then catch a bus to work etc.

That is lame. I protest. I want one of those chair things from Wall-E so I don't have to walk all that distance.

Awright bruvvers, you heard that. Discrimination against the working class EVERYBODY OUT. This site is black. Once the truculent and greedy managers are forced to sit down at a table and listen to our fair and reasonable grievances we will point out to them that if there are no workers their customers won't be coming anyway, and even if they did they won't cross our picket line. Which will not be withdrawn until every worker is provided to a car park of his or her own choice, AND a daily allowance for the inconvenience of having to park his or her car in it , or, alternatively, cos we are very reasonable people, valet parking provided for workers. And workers to be paid time and a half while they are parking, or watching the valet parking, on arrival AND departure. And all workers to be paid double time for the time they have been on strike, plus a one off payment to recognise the humiliation and injured feelings at being treated as second class citizens.

    One word: Convenience.

People are lazy. making something convenient can be the difference in people getting off their arses and not.

Don't forget the aspect of revenue!

Although they won't admit it, restricting the available parking for short-term use creates a lucrative opportunity for Councils to raise revenue through the use of parking fines.

Many councils actually earn more from fines then they do from legitimate parking fees. Here is an example from where I live (Melbourne).
