    Wellington?

Which areas in Wellington are nice places to live and good schooling?????
I am not that fussed on Porirua as I lived there in my childhood and I heard Aotea has gone to the pitts.
I was thinking if We ever moved back to the capital is Tawa or johnsonvile or Tawa any good.
No we are not leaving Auckland just missing Wellington
If you are behind meDont ask as I am lost too.

You can't go past Korokoro, in the hills above Petone, great little school, good community spirit etc etc

Lived there for 7 years, would go back in a flash

2nd vote for Western Hutt Hills, from Korokoro to Belmont.

Not Newtown. It's a bit shit.

Helen O'Grady drama school is very good. They're in the Hutt.

But it definitely qualifies as a hood.

I've always wanted to live in a hood.

We live in Newlands but the family I work for lives in Johnsonville and the kids have all been through West Park school, which seems like a really good supportive school from the five years I've seen the kids going to school there. Two are now at Raroa intermediate just down the road and have been able to keep many of their friends from primary, next year the oldest is off to Onslow college, again, just down the road. Never had any problems with bullying (yet), or them trying to be abducted or hasseled on the streets walking to and from school or to the mall or anything.
If you get involved in school activities, sports etc there seems to be a very community minded support network, which is cool. Tons of sporting and other interest groups in and around J'ville for kids and adults, but J'ville is growing as people realise it's not that far from town (takes hubby about 8 mins door to door to get to and from work on the bike in rush hour traffic) and are moving here in droves!
Anyway, I like living here, have met tons of really nice friendly folk!
    Good luck.

    Tawa is fine.

Redwood area is good if you have primary age kids, the intermediate and college have good reps.

(Both my kids have gone to Redwood primary, my Daughter has gone to intermediate here and is in college now.)

We commute to Wellignton for work. I did many years in the train, now drive. Plenty of bikes do it too.

Tawa is close to Prorirua for shopping, but doesn'y pay Poriorua rate$.

I also happen to know someone selling a house in Tawa... 5% discount for KB members...

+1 vote for the western hills. I grew up in Maungaraki and loved it. Several good high schools to choose from too. some good mountainbiking trails right on your doorstep

Whatever you do, don't move to Ngaio. We like things just the way they are.
