Are you good with metal?

*From a duplicate post in the General Maintenance forums, just needed to know if any smart students here that are good with metal or know someone that is.

Need a nice chap, student or an enthusiast to make me up some metal mounting plates for my bass amp, so then it can fit inside a road/rack case.

The job isn't a difficult one but will require some precise measurements. The plates need a 90 degree bend and a few holes for mounting screws.

Let me know if you can suggest somebody or a smart solution. Cash will be offered for the job or if you prefer, a case of double brown or few bottles of scrumpy cider is also on the agenda.

I've attached a photo of the what the mounting plates should look like (please disregard the chrome handles) and what the finished product should look like attached to an amp that's sitting inside a road case.

They look very similar to the brackets used to rack mount servers... i dont have keys to my office though so cant compare

you better get that sorted asap cos you only got 1 day left to mount it to your car for the National party's last minute campaign. after that you better sell all those audio piece of crap away and spend the money to tidy up your bike...

Just get a chunk of metal, smack it with a hammer till it's the shape you want and then drill holes.
What's the problem here?

i could do it but can't make any promises if you want it chromed

ie, i know places that will do chrome, but never got anything chromed myself

painted, on the other hand, it's an easy job. heck i could even get it laser cut to within 0,001 mm

OR, i could carefully use some appropriately shiny metal

exams finish on the 17th

If you can send me a sketch with dimensions before 6am tomorrow I can make them for you and bring them to the chiller with me.

Yea like Bomma said 'it has to involve a westie of somesort' or it's a epic FAIL, it's written in the club rules.

Back on the topic, don't require chrome handles, just two pieces of metal with with a 90 degree bend and a 4 holes drilled in (see picture two with 2 the red circle). I would do it myself but for to be accurate it will need to be done with a floor drill press.

I will take up on Andrew's (after your exams) and Twinkle's offer though

As for Twinkle, unfortunately I don't have any measurements at hand but I'll measure something up by tonight but not so sure if it will be much use, as it will probably be better if you saw it at hand. No rush mate.

If you refer to the second picture you will get a clear idea how it works. The 2 black screws mounts into the side of the amp as there's already existing screw holes and the two outer screws mount to the roadcase.

Might bring the amp and the road case to the chiller for you two to have a look.

Need to dig out this thread again. Need some chum to make me some metal brackets. If you read the first post, no chrome handles needed, just some brackets.

Throw $ or beer for your time. I'll bring the amp and the case, so you can get the precise measurements. I'll even go to the extent and measure one. Chur.
