I remember taking a mates RGV for a blat not long after getting my learners (about a year) and it scared the merry crap out of me.

I'm not sure that the words 'safely riding' and 'RGV' can ever go in the same sentence, even if you're a experienced rider...

If your are cranked right over, and hit the powerband, it can be a pants wetting event.... You need a bit of experience, its like jumping on a 400 sports bike... But with a far more violent power curve...

    Riding a RGV yeeee harrrrr~

    Hi Guys!
well , if your wanting to buy a RGV on your learners? id be a bit careful lol
if you have had bike experience on a farm (riding fast) or raced motocross or enduro? youd be ok, as you know to handle a bike a in a slide (power or braking)
its very easy to get yourself in trouble on a RGV coz no engine braking like 4 stks ! and coz the bike handles (even better with sport setup) fairly well , you tend to blast around bends a bit quicker than normal the bike has very quick accellration and things come up very quickly! wooooo their nelllly lol. they are extremely fun to ride! deserve respect until you have experience of it. If your quite happy to own one? as 1st bike, just take it easy until you gain exp! what ever you do dont hit second power band around a blind corner! youll be on a death wish! as they dont stop as quick as you may think! lol. Dont do high miles 2 stks dont like big miles, get it serviiced by ppl that know what they are doing!

    Great power band!
always thought a CR500R motor would be good on the road!

Yeah sorry mate, some dude from KB actually bought it so that was a bonus, had another guy call me last night that wanted to buy it aswell but then the dude from here hit the buy now. Had about 5 people call me for this, pretty desireable bike, imagine if the exterior had been mint, I might have creamed it on this one.
All the best though man, RGV is a fucken fun bike, goes like shit, look after them and watch out for dodge ones and all is well. Plus pay them respect, I've been riding for about 4 and a half years and I still believe it needed to be shown respect.

    What can you suggest for
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/a...43&key=4196103

To be made as good/reliable as the bike that you had for sale. I might by this as soon as I know what to ask that Ray Clee guy to do.

    double posted .. sorry ..

    What should I do to

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/a...43&key=4196103

To make sure it will last?

Like where should I take it and what should ask to be checked? I dont want to buy another time bomb again. I service my vehicle's regularly and always keep good tyres on them, but Im so paranoid about engines and gearbox's with Bikes now.

    PLEASE HELP

    Hey, nice bike!
Give me a PM if you get it, and I'll sort you out with manual etc...
I hope you like getting your hands dirty!cos your gonna!
Quite honestly... you want it to last? DO ALL THE WORK YOURSELF!
It's quite easy, and I can help to explain anything that gets you stumped.

Whatever you do, make sure you give it a decent check out before riding it to far!
If you get me on a good work day, I might be able to check out the barrells etc beore you buy, or I can do it after if you have already brought it.
    Let me know

Check out your other thread... more there.
Ray is probably the best person I can think of to do any work for you... but I thought money was an issue for you?
Spend more on the suspension than the engine... it will make you faster

This bike is back on the market as I have been dicked around for the last week by a guy who obviously wasn't ready to buy.
