    CBR1000rr engine ticking

Hi all, looking ideas as to the source of an irritating ticking noise from the engine when hot between 3-4000rpm. Its a 2005 Honda CBR1000rr. Bike has 9000km's, have had the valve clearences checked and cam chain tensioner changed any ideas???

    Cheers

Leaking header pipe or pipes. !!!.

Try to re-torque them when hot and see what happens. If it shuts up and then comes back then just grab some new exhaust gaskets and redo it.

tink it's a common noise for that model, mine started to do it at 30,000 km ish, the last one i had started it at around the same km's, test rode an 07 model with 3000km's on the clock and also made the same noise, but haven't found any signs of exhaust leaks yet

Fairing loose? Valve clearances not done properly?

If it's the same ticking mine does - don't worry about it mate.

Pretty sure it's just the buckets and shims rattling about a bit.

I asked a mechanic mate about it once and he said there is a shit load of metal flying about in there and he would be disappointed if it didn't make a few little noises.

Mines been doing it basically since I bought it new.

If it is the same ticking sound that I have then it is common....had it on all 4 of my fireblades. A mechanic used to tell me it is to do with the exhaust valve. I got the same year bike as yours now with same amount of km's too I find the ticking is alot louder when I used shell 95 fuel but once I change to BP 98 it just seems the ticking isn't as loud.
