As some of you may know Te Manawa has opened the Motorcycles Unleashed exhibition today. There is a good selection of old bikes and bikes owned by kiwi racers on display. They have a racing simulator to try out.

You are also allowed to take your digi cams so I got plenty of photos. I highly reccomend you go and check it out. There is also two Kawasaki bikes to win as well! Might interest Cowboyz

It's well worth a visit - we went on the day it opened and spent some time looking around the exhibition. There are some gorgeous bikes in there and the display will change as bikes go off to be raced and get replaced by others. Heaps of Ducatis in there at present, not sure what's coming up but the guy said to check out the website for updates.

You get a card when you go in, and if you visit twice more (@ $15 a time) you get your fourth visit free. And you go in the draw to win an $11,000 Kawasaki of your choice.

They had trials riders there the other day too.

It's quite well done with all the mirrors underneath the bikes so you can see the whole bike, and they have them tied down with wire cables rather than on stands.

Does anyone have any idea on this bike? I'm not sure if it's a home job or some brand I've never heard of.

It's a Ducati NCR. Very beautiful bike, think the guy who owns it is called Chris and he's from Wellington. It was at our last Manfeild Day and I couldn't stop drooling! (Over the bike, I'm a married woman!)

has anyone tried the simulator? Not to sure if i like the sound of riding without the risks!

No, don't know anyone who has tried the simulator yet, or even how much it costs - it's not included in the admission fee and I can't find a price on their website or advertising material.

I tried one of those arcade bike things years ago and was crap at it, crashing into the wall within seconds! Don't think I'll bother with the simulator!

The Simulator costs $10 per ride and it's amazing! It's a lot of fun!

Also, Te Manawa is having an event next Thursday (27 November) with 3 World Champions & a Crusty Demon. Hugh Anderson, Tim Gibbes, Graeme Crosby and Mary Perkins will be speaking. It's a two course meal and tickets are $80 a seat. If you're interested give Te Manawa a call 06 355 5000.

just remember to forget every single thing you do on a normal bike and you should be right

Popped in and had a gander at it yestereday. Good effort.

Fortunate for a few of us there was a motorcycle "club" visiting at the same time. So if the same happens while you're there and the lovely ladies at the counter ask the question- "Are you with the group?" (helps to be unshaven and have scuffed up riding gear) the correct answer is "Yes madam" and you will be awarded with a discount.

The sim was apperently designed by a bloke who has not ridden very far at all. This might explain the way its setup. Good for the majority of the public though. Stear left to go left, stear right to go right.

In the "childrens" area of the exibition is what looks like a DR single barrel, head and crank setup you can pull down and reasemble. It appeared most of the punters were unaware it came to bits.

Went and had a squiz on Saturday and it is a great exhibition. I won't post my pile of photos because banditrider has already given you the link to his.

Inside, the Konig was what I was interested to see because I heard so much about it back in '73, but until now had not managed to see it even if the one on display is a replica and not Kim's bike as such.

The Classic Club just happened to be there when I arrived so the few photos I will post are of their bikes parked outside. I already posted pictures of zillions of Pommy stuff from my visit to the Natonal Motorcycle Museum in Pomgolia here http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=91576 so I tried to get some photos of good Jap stuff too. A few "foreign" brands also sneak into these photos:

Crikey in pic #5 there is a TX750 that must still run to get along to Te Manawa.
