I picked it up from JB this morning too.
Will give it a listen today and tonight and post my thoughts.

I am a gnr fan from way back. I disagree with those that reckon VR is the new guns.. not from what I have heard of velvet revolver.

Ive listened to a downloaded copy. Its no Appetitite For Destruction, but it definitely grows on you after a while. Pretty epic.

    Heard it,
remember L.A Guns / Roses before GnR itself was formed.
And saw GnR at Wembly when the main support act was NiN who blew them off the stage btw.
Still the same old same old....... they should have left it alone after Illusion 1 & 2. Now if you'd gone to the Priest concert?

I got the album on Saturday and think the second half of the album is very good. I think it's good that Guns and Roses didn't try to make an album better than Appetitite For Destruction and just stuck to something that people will grow onto.

Look what happened to My Blooody Valentine when they tried to make a album better then their "masterpeice" second album.

    Thumbs up

Ok had a good listen last night.

It is not Appetite, or Illusion, and for that I am grateful. Although having said that there are nods to those albums and sounds that fans will be very familiar with.

For me the vibe is more like a grown up Lies album. I don't mean it sounds like Lies, just I feel it is more like that than AFD or Ill 1 and 2.

Axl's voice is great. Matured but still with the screams and 'whines' that make Axl who he is vocally.

Songs I thought were excellent. For me, there was no 'filler' on this album. I liked the slow ones as much as the rock tracks. I thought that the album worked as a whole piece really well considering the number of different musicians and engineers working on it. Axl did a good job holding on to his vision.

The mix. I enjoyed the mix, drums and guitars all held their rightful place without Axls voice stomping all over them or vice versa.

Several tracks stood out for me (I won't name names) because I think it is the type of album that when I listen to it in a different mood, completely different tracks will stand out.

So for me this is an easy 4/5. May even climb higher with repeated listens.
For $20 as JB Hifi it really is a no brainer.

    Epic!

Its not really what I expected but after repeated listens it sounds like a true masterpiece.

Who cares? not me for one, back in the day i was quickly sick of the gingas screeching and then came the faggot pants and dance moves, rubbish then and can only imagine how bad it would sound now. There was one plus to his voice but and that was if you pulled up outside any house that it was emitting from it was any easy decision to go to the party down the road. With this i rest my case,he managed to sound like shit but one cant deny he has does one thing in common with Fred.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-w_FDqQXrY

This one might be worth a listen. I am listening to in more than I listen to Death Magnetic. Better album I reckon.

I always hated Axels's screaming. As a result I never bought any of their albums.

You have to realise that this is a studio album and he (a he is the only G&R one here) has tried his best. And done a top job! Have a look at the list of names. Some of them are legends! And he has 100+ there!

So yep, a good album, no Axel screaming. Top music.

    I give it 3 1/2 outta 5

May the bridges I burn light the way.
