Anyhow, Visited a few pa's, definitely made of mud and sticks. No doubt they worked very well, after all, they made a lot of war.
It was actually the "abos" comment that got my dander up. I may be a moron, but at least I try not to be an ignorant troll. Oh yeah. Don't forget the free offer to beat my head in when we meet. That sort of comment usually goes hand in hand with the moron comment.

It is interesting that the Maori electorate seats, are still in existance. Race-based and all of that.

Sad mate, First you take my post and construe it into something miles away from its intent and into something pretty ugly, Now your stretching it into pure fantasy and trying to portray it as reprehensible. I shouldn't have to reply to the punch in the head dribble as that's your comment. I dare say if we ever met I'd have a chuckle and ignore you.

No skin off my nose if your offended by the name the native aussie's go for.

Might be a mind blow for you, People that hold different views from your own don't automatically become trolls or ignorant. Wisdom may come with maturity, so there is still hope for you. And perhaps then you can approach peoples views with a bit more of an open mind, rather then getting all excited.

I know that we like to think that New Zealand is a meritocracy where everybody gets a fair go, but it really isn't.

The single most important factor in predicting educational achievement is the socio-economic group of your parents. It is really simple - if your parents have money then they can afford to:

    1. send you to a high-quality kindergarten or early child-hood centre
    2. live in better areas (which allows for access to the top public school zones)
    3. send you to a private school
    4. pay for private coaching or remedial tutoring

Educational scholarships exist to help even this out.

    Noice!

Didn't have the facts right so it turns into a personal attack.

    I wish I WAS excited.

I'm just going through the motions.

I'm not moving to Aussie. The grass isn't greener. They have no grass.

Well, I think I construed it in much the same way as J D, so there's obviously a few of us Mormons around.

They exist for anyone who can pay for them.

Which unfortunately rules out most Maori and Pacific families right from the start.

Excuses only I'm afraid - apologist rubbish IMHO.

I can drive around Levin, and see pensioners on $250 a week, living in a clean and tidy home, recycling bin loaded to the hilt, mowed lawns, and nice garden. Grandad will have cleaned the '82 corolla and will be calling in at the club for a beer after helping his mate with the dodgy leg fix the chainsaw so they can get some more cheap firewood.

I can look across the road and see another household, with a better tax payer-provided income, and a cheap state house.

But they are sitting on the back step smoking. The lawns are overgrown, and there is a car on its side. I can't see their yappy dog, cos its likely to be pissing on my car.

They don't have a recycling bin, and they may as well not have a rubbish bin, cos its on its side, and the shit is blowing down the street.

My vietnamese refugee neighbour arrived in NZ 10 years ago, with a ripped shirt, a pregnant wife and and two kids who couldn't speak english.

Now his wife runs a fish and chip shop. He has a small market garden, and both his kids are going to University.

The link you claim exists... but it works the other way around.

How can you be so sure that the Maori's won't be needed by National at the next election?
I don't think there is any other reason why National are working with the Maori.
    Smart move by Key.

Y'know, my parents were poor as church mice, and I... am, er, not.

Not to mention that the personally-wealthiest KBer I know grew up with a single mum on welfare.

New Zealand really does offer opportunity for all. It's the attitudes that people are programmed with from birth that need to change.
