    Newsletter 08

    Hi Everybody,

    Here comes newsletter 08!

    SMC News -

    Parking Tickets
We have had a council officer assigned to deal directly with our concerns and tickets following a recent short appearance on fairgo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATDPZ6QbrgI . So If you've recieved a ticket from outside the university or anywhere else in the city (in particular for wof / registration and displaying them when your vehicle does indeed have a current one) send me an email and i will follow it up on your behalf. This goes for any recent tickets you may have had to pay as the result of a similar 'administrative' error.

    Learner Rides
Next sunday we'll be running a ride for learners/those new to the open road, likely north or northwest of Auckland. This will be an L plate friendly ride, suitable for a first group ride (not your first ride on the road, but a first ride on the open road in a group). So if you've gotten the hang of commuting on your toy but haven't yet gone on an actual ride, here's a good chance to do so without getting into trouble. L plates welcome, L plate pace. Other riders will mingle with the groups to ensure the pace is suitable and ensure a safe event for all involved. As usual, for this type of ride, the fine print is: "if we see any deliberate wheelies or needlessly reckless/dangerous behaviour you will be asked to kindly fuck off - this isn't a race". More down the page but you'll find all the info at http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=85121

Other Rides include a Coro Loop on the 21st (not L friendly), more on that below.

    Friday Night Chiller
Every friday the club meets up in strata (post grad lounge on the top level of kate edgar) for a few drinks/chat/whatever. With uni finishing up for the semester, this friday may be the last at strata, after that we'll meet at various spots around Auckland, to find out where we'll be visit http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=64433

    Bike Maintenance
Being students, we cant always afford what the shops charge. If your bike needs a bit of tlc, a service, or some minor repairs (no complete engine rebuilds, i'm talking steering head bearings, fork seals, brakes and that sort) and you'd like to learn to do it and save some cash in the process, flick me an email and we'll work it out. We dont charge but do accept donations towards the club trailer and, of course, beer.
