    beware midgeees

I camped up there last weekend with about 20 or so friends, had a mean time, great roads! Lived in whangarei for like 17 of my 25 years and never really headed out to the West Coast. But BEWARE! Nasty ass midgees out there, honesly can still see their bites a week later! Have fun all, would come myself except for the fact that two weeks in a row is a bit excessive!

Midges are the same as at any NZ beach (try the Westcoast SI for real Midges). As for 2 weeks in a row being excessive, you need to ride your bike more.
Come on Guys & Gals, It's going to be awesome (or is KB full of soft co*ks?)!

It will be a awesome ride, A few of us rode the waipoua forest a couple of weeks back & the road is in good condition, Just a little bit of road works when you get out of the forest.
If you havent ridden the forest you should come along, Wicked road

Well Jess and Ant have baggsed the Queen. Good to see PT and Tiller are coming.
Been working hard fixing my work Ute today (Universal broke on the drive shaft ). Thank god it's working again (finish 9:20pm ) as I will be able to get all my shoeing done before the WE Had to drive the Old-man's Commodore to AK to get a new yoke but. Shit I hated that (I corner way better on "Rox"). Missed using "Roxanne" as she was getting serviced at Planet Honda. Will be picking Her up Friday, so everything will be set.

I will be meeting up with Ant 9:15 @ the Portland Turn-off, where we will head to Wellsford. Northland riders are welcome to ride with us down to meet any coming up from South of Northland. We hope to depart from Wellsford by 11:00am, so if you are not there by that time it would pay to head for SH1/SH12 Maungaturoto turn off. There is a planned regrouping at the Brynderwyn Tearooms (The Swinging Cow Cafe'). Those planning to meet the ride here should aim at being there by 11:30am as the 11:45am Depart was aimed at a larger ride to give enough time to regroup.
Hope to see a few of you there

Awesome ride and great company last night Didn't get to bed until late.

Great to see PT & Zapf making the effort riding up (hope more of you will not be to shy next time). Thanks Tiller for leading out on the Pap/Oak Rd. Thanks Kevin (a local GSXR750 ride that Tiller & I have riden with before) for giving me a pillion brake down the Maungakamea Rd and Otaika Vly Rd so I could show Tiller that I was not a total nana.

Special thanks to Ant & Jess for helping make this happen Awesome Dude and Dudette, Enjoyed having you all here.

High light for me would be visiting Jess's Parents (not part off the organial plan but all taken in our stride and well worth it for the hospitality). The "Road" they lived UP would have made Motu proud of us (especially of his Prodigee', PT) . Not a bad effort for "Roxanne" with Jess as 2up (See Pics, will post more as I get time)

    Talking Awesome WE

Saturday Morning head to the Portland Turn Off to meet up with ANt and Jess. I was supposed to be there by 9:15am. Ant was getting worried and was just Txt me as I pulled up just before 9:20am:eyepoke:
Pinched his girl friend (Jess) and headed to Wellsford. Well this was the frist time I had had Jess as a pillion. You know how some cars have a warning beep if you go over a set speed, well I had this tightening feeling on my hips. As I got up to 90MPH this "squeeze" became more of a "Crush". Shit Jess can apply some pressure with her legs, thought my hip was going to snap Maybe she was trying to tell me something I thought. So I easied off a bit until we got to Wellford. There I found out that she wasn't telling me off but was worried she was going to fall-off the back and didn't want to put too much weight on the backpack rack
Zapf was the frist AK KBer to arrive at around 10:30. Then BigB turned up (good to see you again Big B sorry I have such a louisy memory I was trying to remember your name but couldn't ). Had not see him in a very long time. He was heading to Whg on a different mission, so once he had fueled he was on his way. Just on 11am PT truned up so, after a quick catch-up, we were off the Brynderwyns.
Having Txt'ed Tiller that we would be there by 11:20 we justed pulled in @ 11:30. He was there with Kevin. Kevin is a Whg rider that both Tiller and I have rode with in the past. He riders a grey GXR750 really well and would give most of our fast riders a run for there money.
Having sorted out want Jess's leg squeezes were about and having got off the Main SH, I started to show Jess some of what "Rox" was capible of down SH12 to Paparoa. this was hampered by unexpected road works (it was not there a fortnight ago) with full work crew just before Maungaturoto laying down some fresh tar and pea metal (put's Bugger on the sign).
At Paparoa we turned off down the Paparoa-Oakleigh Rd. Here I indicated to Tiller and Kevin to lead as they were more familiar with this road and a lot fast than myself (specially 2up).

    To be continued
