Unhappy Funeral for Mike Webster - Chief Flag Marshall Vic Club Races

Some Sad News has been received that Mike Webster succumbed to the cancer that he has been fighting for most of this year yesterday morning at 1.30 am.

Most racers from the Vic Club know that we accepted Mike as a Life member this year. Mike was the Chief Flag Marshall for a number of years at the Vic Club Races.

For those who wish to pay respects his funeral will be held on Tuesday 28 October- 2.30 @ Dempsey and Forrest on 208 Guyton Street, Wanganui.

We will be riding up on Tuesday morning ... am unsure of the details at this stage - but if others would like to join us please PM me.

If you would like to leave a message for the family do so in this thread before Tuesday morning and I will pass it on to the family.

    Regards
    Kari

This is gutting really. Although we've known this has been going to happen since early this year, it doesn't make it any easier.

Mike was one of those great people who always had a kind word and treated everyone the same - with a smile and respect. His flag team would have followed him anywhere. He was just that kind of guy.

So yup, riding up from Paremata Tuesday morning.

    Mike

Hi, I am Mikes wife. I have just read your thread for Mike and am overcome with emotion as to how well he was respected and liked. He loved his motorsport heaps and would always give me a rundown on the days meeting when he got home or via txt throughout the day. I will pass on your condolences to the rest of the family. Thanks for your kind words. A great man with courage and determination right to the end

I first met Mike when I became involved in volunteering with the Vic Club a few years ago and always found him great to talk to and so dedicated to his role he had as head Marshall. I know that all those who volunteered their services to him as marshalls at not only morocycle meets but also car race meets had alot of respect for him. He sure is going to be missed by so many people but i know the memory of him and all that he has done for motorsport NZ is going to live on forever. RIP Mike and you sure were 1 of the kind. Condolences to Mikes wife, family and brother who I spoke to briefly at round 6 of the VMCC Actrix Winter Series a few weeks back. My thoughts are with you all. Cheers Sue alias (Skip).
