Yeah the only issue I can see would be if yr man is a biggun. Given the fact that you are still unexperienced that would definately compromise your ride.

I have solved the issue of taking passengers by removing the rear pegs. LOL.

I have only just got my full a couple of months ago and yet to learn how to. My partner has volunteered to be my training pillion but i was wondering if i should start with one of the kids? Sorry to hijack the tread, but it is kind of related maybe?

kids are way easier to pillion due to their light weight...........we have graduated sizes of pillion for any occasion......

however they do tend to wriggle around sometimes which could be disconcerting if you are not used to it......

and i did have miss 10 yrs fall asleep on the back one night.........very exciting.

Before I met my hubby, I had a guy pillion on a bike I rode...

Now, though, I wouldn't pillion my hubby because he weighs in at quite a bit more than me and I don't feel comfortable with even a large backpack on, so don't think I could pillion him.

I only pillion on his bike when absolutely necessary! I prefer to ride my own ride...

I hear you BC, I'm in the same position. My hubby is quite a bit bigger than me but if I was assured that the bike would handle having the "mis-distributed" weight mass then I'd happily take him.
I have pillioned my 70kg son a number of times, including on the wee ginny!! (and got a number of second looks that time). Thought he'd be horrified to be seen on the back of mum's bike, but it doesn't worry him at all. In this day and age of all the gear usually worn it's not always easy to tell the gender of rider or pillion at a glance. It's more when you dismount and remove helmets!

I also meant to add, good on any man who is not ashamed to be seen on the back of his wife's/partner's bike. A lot of men (mostly those not into riding anyway I'd guess) would see it as akin to castration; that the pussy seat is exactly what that title suggests.......... But any man who can ride behind a woman and not be embarrassed by it is obviously very secure in their manliness and gets the big from me.

besides,my wife might get jealous (she wont go near a bike.she's shit scared of them )

I learnt to ride on the road by pillioning my partner. We had an '81 or '82(?) 750 Katana and would swap on long rides. Fully loaded pack, two up along the Foxton straights with side winds taught me alot. In time he even let me commute on it.

Have pillioned a number of guys over the years but the funniest one was a staunch Harley rider with the Jonny Rebs n HD vest etc. Was a poker run and he tried to do the big hero take off after the first pub and snapped his rubber band in front of everyone!
He did the rest of the ride in the back-up vehicle. After the do, he needed a lift back to Rotorua so he hopped on the back with me on my old CBR600!! Hah!

I take my partner on the back but hes terrible on the back. He has no problems being on the back and my bike is pink! He often says lets take your bike but Im not confident enough. I think as long as the man is cool who cares.

When I lived in Napier I had a male friend who loved being pillion on my bike. The funny thing tho was he had very long blond hair and a beard = I had short blond hair so when we stopped off at the pub it was hilarious seeing the mouths drop when Baz took of his helmet then I took mine off. He is going to get his motorbike licence next year.

I took another male pillion from Napier to Taupo once - he was a harley rider and used to skite about his riding skills - so I took him and yes he was a good pillion - he told me he loved speed so I gave him that - well apparently he told his mates I was a bloody mad woman, complete nutter etc - served him right for bullshitting me. If he'd asked me to slow down I would have, it wasn't my intention to scare the living shit out of him.

I had my 17 year old on the back for the toy run at the weekend - he's about 80kg and boy did I notice the difference compared to my partner who is considerably less than that (if I guess the number and get it wrong I'm in trouble - so not going there )
I used to have a saying that a pillion should always weigh less than the rider - that usually but not always meant that the guy wouldn't be on the back. Not so sure about that now as that doesn't factor in the type of bike (the amount of room, amount of suspension, the way the pillion effects the CofG etc) and the riders experience.
For that weekend run I should have (but didn't) wound up the suspension to a heavier load setting - this is probably more important on some machines than others but is worth doing if taking a pillion on a longish trip.
The biggest things with a heavier pillion seem to be maneuvering at low speeds and having a pillion "driving" from the rear - if the pillion starts to move or lean slightly earlier for a corner than you want to you really notice it if they are biggish - if they are bigger than you then it would be extremely annoying. A lot of guys would be able to see the road ahead whereas many female pillions can't - if the guy starts anticipating and moving you might have to stop and give him a spanking

My bloke has totally ruled out ever going on the back of my bike. It's a shame because I think it would be fun, but it's his hang-up not mine! Mind you, he hates being on the back of any bike no matter who's riding so I suppose I shouldn't take it personally.

We were out riding with a bunch of friends a couple of weeks ago and one of the bikes broke down. The rider had to get a lift back to town on the back of another bike, so he could fetch a car and trailer. It was really funny watching these two guys on one bike. They have known each other for years and shared bunk rooms etc, but the guy on the back of the bike was desperately trying to not touch the guy on the front. Let alone putting his arms around his waist and holding on tight! Very funny sight.
