    Classic Bike Forum

The Classic Bike title is realy just a touchstone for those who think its a forum that suits their needs....and it sounds better than " Old Bike"
It seems to be that anything made before you were born is 'old', so for me 50's bikes are old...but I would think now mid 80's bikes are concidered old.
The guy with the roundcase 750ss with the green frame might think his bike is more classic than the owner of a 860 GT but thats neither here nor there...just get out on old bikes and enjoy them and meet others of the same persuasion.

I turned up for a ferry crossing once on my 500/4 and there was one guy and his lady on a bike too. He completely ignored me as I was on an old 'jap' bike and he was on an a black and gold Italian bike.

I have a dream....when the owner of a bike is not judged by the make, model or age of his bike but buy his character....

You can argue whats a classic indefinately...and that alone would make for an interesting topic for a while.
I have a Solex moped.....I think its classic....but then probably so is the 72' CB 125 in my Mums shed.

There would be more of what bearing will fit my gearbox than what shop do I take my yamahondzukikwak too to get the air changed in the tyres.
( no offence to non tool users...just stop complaining about bike shops and high service costs)

I pm'ed Mental Trousers to ask for a Forum, waiting on a reply.
I suppose we could be forum pirates and take the scooter forum over...

I am off classic bikes presently. I saw a very tidy K2 SOHC CB750 which I sold (and regretted) sell on tardme the other day for TWICE what I got for it (less $500).

see, a forum where I could bitch and moan like that is just what we need

YEAH, GOT TO BE DONE.............then i can find some poor demented sod with an XS1100 that cannot be ridden and i'll buy it for cheap and cannibalise it to repair the poor dead old girl in the garage..............Sounds bloody great.

I swapped mine for a Singer Vogue.....they were worth about the same at the time.A Singer Vogue (Hunter shape) may actually be worth some money in good nick these days, but would still fall a long way short of a early CB750 in good nick.Mind you,I swapped a VW powered Ural sidecar to get the CB.

And that's another thing - do people ever just swap bikes these days,no money involved? I've done lots of swaps, bikes or parts...cars,trucks.I still think it's a good way to deal.

Another vote for a Classic Forum here too. I have very fond memories of paisley shirts, flares and RD350s! Didn't have a mustard jacket though.
