Hey wildcat, is the duty included in those prices?
I rang the minister of finance (wife) to discuss it, and she said 'don't forget the duty'. She works for a company that makes garments offshore for Ezibuy, Glassons, Max, Halenstiens, Kathmandu, Swandri etc etc so she knows her stuff. She looked it up and the duty is as follows:

If it comes in as a jacket and pant - duty is 14%
If it comes in as an `all in one' - is duty free

    Cheers

My thoughts exactly !! I'm in if that's the price ...

He he he, just realised there was a second page of questions

The made to measure suits would be the same price I'm sure, when I asked them about it last week they didn't indicate any price difference.

Hey Tony, I rang DHL (who the parcel would be coming through) and they said gst is payable if the package is valued over $NZD400. I'm not sure about the duty...is it payable even if it is a private import for personal use and not as a commercial venture?

I will ring a customs agent and let you know...

Oh this is going to be a logistical nightmare : I should have known everyone would be keen for some bargain leathers.

I'm thinking probably by the end of the week, I'd like to have a few things finalised in terms of numbers of people and details from Bel answering any questions. Then we can organise sizes and get a total cost incl shipping (and duty if applicable) and then hopefully bobs your uncle.

I'm keen, for sure. Probably a 1 piece (that black/grey looks well nice) for moi.. with amour and sliders.

How are you going about the sizes etc? How does that work? I'm 5"11 and ~68kgs

Well, it will all be fine then, cause bob IS my uncle.
I'm pretty sure duty is payable no matter what the end use. When I import stuff for work I generally use a customs agent. One company I deal with uses Fed Ex, and they (Fed Ex) do all the customs stuff for me so the customs clearance is included in the shipping quote. Not sure if DHL work that way.

Yep your right...Duty and gst is payable seeing as the goods are for more than 1 person. Duty 14% and gst 12.5%...on $250, gst and duty comes out about $65. If everyone is still keen, I'm sure we work something that suits everyone.

I'll keep you up to date. Thanks Tony for clarifying the finer points

Sizes are standard British or Euro sizing (like teknic do...ie I'm a 40/50 jacket) or alternatively if you have a favourite jacket you like the size of, you can measure the waist, length of arm, etc (I'll find out exactly what measurements they want) and they will make it to that sizing.

Once we know know what everyone wants and if there are still people keen then we can iron out the finer details of exactly what size everyone wants. Cheers

I'm happy for an 'off-the-rack' suit, if it's a lot less hassle (which I'm assuming it will be), then get it nip/tucked in the right places. Just thinking of where the sliders will sit when I'm wearing the suit etc.. I think I'm average, but then again, define average...???? I might try some suits on at the weekend if that's not too late, and find a good size, then get the specs off that. Suits can cost a fair whack ay? This should be a bargain if it goes to plan.. I'm hoping.. Then you'll get lots of
