That is why I'll continue to regarding irresponsible behaviour on a motorcycle.

I'm not the first on here to try to get this message across - just maybe one of the more stubborn fuckers. People constantly say they have no problem with my message but rather with the delivery. (Delivery? What - because I swear a lot?) Those people need to get over the "delivery" bit and see that the way forward, out of this shit motorcyclists have created for themselves, is to vocally support the message regardless of whether you like me or not.

As I mentioned a while back in another thread, drink driving has become socially unacceptable largely due to peer pressure.

Peer pressure only works when you respect your peers.......?

No, the concept of peer pressure actually works something like this..........

    "You're being a stupid fuck"

    "You're being a stupid fuck"

    "You're being a stupid fuck"

    "You're being a stupid fuck"...........

Until the person starts thinking "Hey, maybe I am being a stupid fuck".

My understanding and experience of psychology and human change management is that the normal human response to that is normally "get fucked who the fuck are you?"

You even run the risk in your example that you convince the person that they are indeed "a stupid fuck". If for example I believe that I am a "stupid fuck" how do you think I'm going to behave.....?

If it really is the message that is important you should at least consider other possible approaches. Or even multiple approaches as people are all different (except me).

Correct, if it's only one person saying it. Perhaps you mistook my post above as being said by one person in broken record fashion. It was meant as four different people saying the same thing.

Peer pressure only works when it's a number of people giving you the same message. (Except on me - cos I'm stubborn as fuck).

I can go with that, but from where I am sitting, it seems to me that the people who you and I think, most need to hear the message, just don't believe that there is a problem in the first place. They are quite happy with the status quo, thank you very much and have no intention of modifying their behaviour to suit you or I or any other cunt for that matter.

Those who bother to actually argue with you in here (and by that I probably mean debate with you from some rationalised standpoint) rather than just call you a prize prick, are those who have already got the message and thought about it to some degree. So despite what they say about your delivery, you have already got your message across there anyway and so have succeeded.
It is the people who (call you a prize prick and) dismiss you as irrelevant and just go their own way, that are the people who do us the most damage. But you ain't getting to that group, which is why I contend that those who need to most, are those who are not listening.

Peer pressure may do it, but you will need to be really stubborn as it seems like a lifetime's work to me. I am sorry to say it, but for peer pressure to work, you need to have the majority on your side and it is simply contrary to human nature to expect those you irritate to side with you. You ask us to be more adult than most of us actually are.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

I think you'll find that there's considerably more people openly supporting me now than there was 12 months ago.

(Look up the word stubborn in the dictionary - it will say Katman).

I actually hope I'm wrong but I suspect the key word there is "openly" if my own experience is any indication.
I think you may find that those who support you now, always have. It's just that finally, they have gotten pissed off enough to say so.
    Perhaps that is enough, however.

Na. I thought he was a right fuckwit to start with. I continued to think that until I actually thought about what he was saying as apposed to taking great offence to what he was saying.

Recently a Christian priest commented on those who have been sexually abused by other priests and by stating that they "should get over it".

Personally, I believe he is right. Jesus was nailed to the cross over two thousand years ago and you don't see people harping on about it now, do you?

    Cause for optimism.

You still don't get it... using people you never knew, or the facts of the accidents in which they passed, for YOUR crusade, is downright selfish and stupid. Most don't have an issue with the message but you need to FUCKING THINK about how you do it! In the above example, your message was completely lost because you stirred emotion. WRONG! Once emotions get involved, your message is screwed/fucked/lost! I find it strange you take the high ground for your message but take the low ground to get it across...

Everyone on here understands what you are trying to say but everyone has different versions of what's right and wrong. It's a conscience thing. Mine differs to yours. ONLY when I do something against MY conscience, will I stop and think. You and yours be fucked...

Keep banging your head against the wall. My only problem is that you're NOT ACTUALLY banging your head against the wall...

    See, I think differently.

I've always felt that the greatest insult to those needlessly killed in motorcycle accidents is to sweep it all under the carpet and fail to learn anything from the tragedy.

(And I didn't make any insulting remark about Darryl or Bruce in that post that has got you so worked up - or in any of my posts for that matter).
