At work is a G5 dual with 23" LCD. Home is somewhat cheaper stuff.
    I spend on the bikes...
Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner I was at ice skating lessons last night ...

Well when I found out about the mac mini after the MWSF keynote I had a look at it and thought it would be good as a server at home. After two week of persuading my husband, he finally agreed. I rang up our local Magnum Mac the next day and talked to the guy we usually deal with (he went to school with my husband, this guy also gave us a good deal on my G5 at home).

Anyway he put me on the waiting list for the mac mini (I have a funny feeling that he bumped us up to the top of the list) and said that the first shipment (which would be small) would arrive sometime early February, but a floor model would be there to look at in the last week of January. He called us back last Friday afternoon to say that it had arrived and we could pick it up.

We have the 1.42 GHz Mac mini 80 Gb hard drive and 256 Mb of memory. Its very small, very light and also very quiet. The performance is reallly good I haven't really noticed it slowing down or having to many problems. For the price you pay I reckon you get a really good deal especially as iLife 05 comes with it, I'm having lots of fun with Garageband 2 (I put iLife 05 on my G5). Even better now is that Apple is increasing the memory that comes with the computer to 512 Mb which should help heaps. Its definitely worth having a look at a store even if you aren't going to buy one. I'm just waiting now for my mac mini for work, I'm currently using a 400 MHz powerbook which is sloowwww ...

Well I'm borrowing it at the moment, the powerbook I was using got stolen around xmas the tech guy here left it in an empty lab. They wont be able to get into the data tho, it will be just a glorified paper weight. Any way the office I am in is a 2 minute walk from the lab that I work in so either a powerbook or a mac mini is light enough to carry.
