Broken valve in ZZR, cost to fix

    Hi Forum.
My 1996 ZZR250's engine wont start, the bike shop says they suspect a valve is broken because there is poor compression in one of the cylinders. They have estimated it will cost "well over $1000" to fix.

Seeing as the bike has done 46,000 km, do you think it's worth getting it repaired, or should I sell it? I paid $4000 for it a year ago and otherwise it is in good shape.

    Advice please

A guy at work just bought an engine for one for about $400. I'll ask him where he got his from and see if they have anymore. Otherwise depending on the damage, he may be willing to sell you the head off his old engine which could be a cheap fix for you're problem. All depends on the extent of the damage really.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Cheers, I'd be keen to buy but need to know soon because bike is already disassembled in the shop.
