Question Lap timers & scoring systems

Ok, bit of a two pronged thread.

Riding is improving as well as small developments being made to the bike, I want to try and keep trak of these and short of building a mechanical dyno, or using my calabrated arse dyno, lap times around the circuit seems the best way of keeping track.

What do others use, it seems a bit extream and out of character with the frugal spending associated with bucket racing, but I have eyed up the infra red timers being peedled here on KB, consistanat scoring every lap. As I said anyone got anything else that they use.

Also alnog these line, with the auckland guys just finishing our 2 hour, ditto with the wellington boys, clearly laop scoring is the pitfall of such a long event. Whats everyones opinion on going to electronic scoring systems? not only for a endrunace type event but for accuracy and ease at regular point rounds, please feel free to discuss.

Yes it is a good question It was very hard to keep a track on everybody else in the race with the stop watch system but cost is a factor Its only buckets !! It could be expensive to buy a transmiter each or can you hire them ?

My wife won't come to the track when we are in Auckland, erm or in wgtn for that matter. I've been offered to get my times in Auckers but I've really not wanted to know as I start slow there until I relearn the place so it would just depress me being off pace.

Bayden has been working on a system for several years. In several years it. . . probably won't be ready.
Don't you look at my accountant.

I brought a micron3 with the magnetic pickup
    not the beacon (silly silly)

cant get the magnet near to the track so am looking for a beacon for it

BUT I'm to scared to put it on the bike just incase i prang it
as happens every now and then in buckets (most weekends)

Hmmm, so I guess I am not the only one that has thought along these lines over the years.

Would mt wellington not have a magnetic strip in the seal somewhere for the carts?

    Transponders

What we've got works at Mt Welly, it's all part of the fun. Especially at the 2hr

Transponders are going to put costs up and a lot of people off. Especially the newbies and riders on tight budgets.

    Leave well alone IMHO....

and they also race bigger bikes so have the goods lying around

but if you are offering I will put my hand up for one
what you doing gouing oversea's think of the carbon footprint

Yea I can just imagine how the conversation with John would go, very short

And if I am spending money on toys for myself they will be my toy, mine I tells you

And yea I know the carbon footprint would be much better spent driving to and from Taupo and burning gas circulating a race track, but mum wanted a family xmas with my sister who lives over there, and besides I have never given a shit about what Helen thought
