ive just fitted a tail tidy to my bike and it looks pretty good apart from the heat shield sticking out the side. ideally id like to remove it as i dont like cutting bits of my bike up. is it just there so my arse doesn't cook or is it important?

Where is the cat converter located on that pipe? Is it in the end can? If so, they generally get extremely hot and I'd leave the shield.
Otherwise, have a feel after a ride and try and guage the temperature under there. Another thing to consider, having anything under the seat which may not like heat...
I don't know the Hondas, just throwing ideas your way.
You can get some shielding from Pioneer or Repco, then bend it into a similar (but smaller) shape, and you'll be done![]()

yea reckon that sound's solid...and remember its not a short blat...but a long ride then sit in the mid day heat and think if not sheild thats alot of heat going upwards...![]()
.xjr...
.."What's with all the lights"..officer..
I have taken my heatshield off my CBR after I installed the aftermarket exhaust (removed cat too). As it does generate a bit of heat I got those adhesive type heatshield stickies to protect the panels etc.
Don't just live to ride but ride to live.
remove and place heat shield tape on the underside of the tail fairing. When you buy an aftermarket pipe for the gay blades, i.e. a yoshi.. the pipes come with said tape.
sell gay bike.. then you solve 2 problems with 1 stone...
Another Money and sexuality saving idea
by McBoomer..
Its better to leave it on, it gets really hot these days. I got the same tail tidey evotech...
the only, and i mean ONLY, reason people buy and ride honduhs is for the looks.. That being true.,.why leave a FUGLY piece of plastic on the tail end of ya bike when a bit of silver heat shield tape will prevent any heat damaging the bike whilst cleaning up the looks....?! ( sorry you cant do shite to clean up the front of an '08 onwards.. other than what a 10lb sledge hammer can do, but thats a different story/thread..huh?! )
a. teh tape works
b. it looks a hell of a lot better
c. you'll still be ghey
Thanks for the help guys, all sorted.
Cool taLooks better than I expected with the stock pipe. You planning on getting a new pipe?
I'm holding off to see how much time I spend at the track. Will prolly spend the money on suspension mods if I'm doing a lot of track days.
Otherwise it'll be a Yoshi carbon or Akra can I think.
Got any other goodies on order?
no nothing on order at the moment, but next will be a gear indicator i think.
i am planning on a new pipe but not for a while. coming from a car back ground i cant get over the cost them.
if your looking for hard to find (in nz) parts id suggest these guys bloody brilliant and fast.
