SRAD ECU - possible issue.

My SRAD has lately been (very rarely) triggering codes 32/33/34/35 which relate to a loss of power to the injectors. The engine doesn't seem to miss a beat however. Has been checked for possible wiring connection problems, but it appears there are none. It is possible that the ECU may be the culprit, but no-one knows for sure. I'm told that if the worst happens and it shits itself, that's $2000+ for a replacement. FUCK OFF. NO WAY.
Perhaps I should look at putting a PC in? Where do I get one? How much? Or does someone have a good used one to suit, lying around that they feel like donating or selling cheap?

If it was any of them, then the codes will not trigger again. Time and riding will tell.
Which is the problem....
What if I'm away on a long trip, and the ecu dies? If that is the reason for the fault.

That won't help, as it piggybacks on the ECU and (depending on what model it is) either feeds it bogus sensor info, or changes the signals coming out of it to the injectors and ignition module. SO you can't run a PC without an ECU in good working order. In fact, some people experience error codes from connecting a PC, if the plugs are a bit corroded or wiring's dodgy.
Have you checked the plugs to the ECU? Check too the cable to the injectors - there might be a break, short or corrosion there somewhere.

Really hope you can get it sorted. It might be an idea to buy one of these 2nd hand ones just to see if it makes the problem go away.

ECUs are pretty reliable, I wouldn't worry about the black box itself dying. Connections however are mechanical, and everything mechanical fails eventually. Most likely a dirty connection, most likely an earth. A brass bristle brush, some wet n dry, contact cleaner, and dielectric grease, are all your friends.

That sounds like a possibility. 1999 SRAD. With a Yoshi TRS can.

Yep it will work with that according to the instructions,dead easy to use just plug/play,if you go to far with adj you can just reset to oem,pm your addy and i will send it up,wont be until next week as a guy with a Busa has it for the weekend.

Had a gander through instructions with the Yoshimura box and for a 99 750 with just a can they reccomend +5 +5 for acceleration circuit so would say its worth doing for sure.I have no idea where the plug is on a Gixxer,on the TL it was on the right hand side rear under the seat hump.

No mate it plugs in to your ECU,as i said it wont sort a dodgey ECU but it will make your bike run better,cant help with the ECU problem though i find it hard to believe there is a problem with the one you have,as others have said my money would be on a connection etc,just thought i would offer this thing for you to have a play with,may well be intersting to plug it in and reset oem settings and see what happens.

Aha!! I'm not actually after performance gains. Those I ride with will tell you I am 'slow'.
But what if I liked it. And it got 'lost'

by the courier when I returned it?

Well there is that,actually the thing has reinforced my belief in mankind somewhat as its been to the states n back,England n back and Auckland n back

its here if you need it anyway.I spend a heap of time on another forum overseas based and i have no doubts one of the guys on there could find you an oem ECU at a cheap as chips price if you need one,sing out.
