Ive been workin on speedboats for the last 5 years and have lost count of how many have ended up in the river. At one stage I went through 5 in the space of 3 months. The worst thing was they were all my own phones so every new one cost me money but the lesson I learned along the way was just buy the cheapest most basic phone and its not all bad. Have a sony at the moment and its lasted about 8 months so far and has been in the river twice and dropped in the bilge of boats a few times aswell and some how its still alive but it aint pretty. Most of the back of it is made of aluminium drinks can and duck tape and the screen looks like someone took to it with sandpaper but it still works so all good for another while

Tellyscum... no such luxury as a SIM card!

This phone does - hell it's been dropped, thrown, put several holes in walls and been run over by an ambulance. I reckon it doesn't consider a bit of salty water to be any threat. Bloody thing...

Be thankful your phone isn't a $950 jobby... dropping my previous one sucked (E61) as you never want to break them... Normally just needed a restart, but thankfully, it never went swimming.

Just upgraded to the E71, hasn't been dropped or abused... don't really want to either, they cost too much
I remember when I 'upgraded' at the end of my contract to the 7400 I have now, I was told "Oh, it's $500 of FREE phone (with 2 more years of contract)" then the bastards dropped the retail price to $250 2 weeks after I got the sodding thing...

Still, fairly bullet proof phone, it's done well for the abuse it has received!

Perhaps when my contract is up in 12 months time... though Telstra are looking tempting, I hear tell of another playing entering the market who are establishing their own network... might hold off a while longer...

    The phone is b0rked.

Couple of buttons are not functioning at all.

    Arse!

Managed to get all my numbers off it though, so not a total loss, but a few vids of my youngest taken a few years ago cannot be recovered as they were saved to the phone, and are as such unable to be taken off by cable or sent from the phone - this includes his first steps

I was at a party ot so long ago and standing outside by a Brazier when a guy had his phone accidentally knocked out of his hand straight into the fire ,
took us all a second to realise what had just happened and then we could definatly hear the plastic sizzling, so the fire got tipped out onto the lawn, and follow the sizzling because the phone was burnt black like all the wood and then stamp it out (after taking photo's of it on fire of course) and prized it apart, pulled the sim card out which was still mint

If you havent talked to them recently you might want to give their business department a quick call before christmas. I have heard that some lucky customers have been specially selected to have upgrades much earlier than their regular upgrade period.

    Worth a try anyway

Popped into an Orb store this arvo...

Bastards don't want to know about me til July next year at the earliest - though this could be a good thing, the new network goes live in June '09 so I'll hopefully be gifted a shiny new phone.

Til then, my soggy phone is dead. My temp phone is ass and I am champing at the bit to put it through a block wall.

    Sigh.
