Rear suspension help

hi all new to this site,ive got a kawasaki turbo ive fitted gsxr 750 suspension to its from the 91m model now the rear suspension canister blew its hose yesterday, if ireplace the hose how do you refill the oil whats the procedure and what type of oil do it take,all help and advise welcomed thanks gary

You really need to get it properly rebuilt, it has nitrogen in there too. You can just refill it though (5wt oil I think) and run it with no gas (or a bit of air....yes I know robert ) but it won't be 100%
Not too familiar with the setup of the gixxer shock though....

thats a big help i was pretty pissed when it let go yesterday i thought id have a huge expense of a new set up

Take it to someone who has the correct tools and know how to fix it properly and re-gas it. Anything else will be half-arsed and your bike deserves better than that!
It's a quick and simple job for someone who knows what they are doing. There are several good people you can take it to in Auckland - Pro Ride Suspension on the Shore & Spectrum M/C in Takapuna spring to mind, though it probably depends where you live.
However, I would say that if the shock is off a '91 and has done reasonable mileage it might be advisable (not essential mind you) to have it fully serviced. I guess this would come down to your budget and future plans for the bike.

whats the story with my canister is it a specialist job or is there something i can do myself,to fix it ive got to get a new hose made can i use a braided line
help please. or an indication of how deep a pocket ill need lol.

It is a specialist job and the line has to have adequate internal bore size so as not to create damping itself. A more ''standard'' braided line has too small a bore size.

A bit of air is good - you might invent the diesel pogo stick

thanks to all who posted ive got the shock fixed and i get it back hopefully tomorrow

got the shock back all reco,d refitted to bike and were up and running
