    I'm almost committed!

No not in an assylum, though i've heard the drugs are good !
As some of you know i have become a bit of a track day junkie in the past yr or so, riding up to as many as my licence would allow (thats one tick for tracks)
Though riding to Taupo the night before and moteling it is all very nice, there is
a/ only so much gear you can carry/wear,
b/ It gets a little expensive (soooo many hours to fill down at the local bars, not to mention hangovers at the track) one night in taupo = near a new tyre (well that was my last experience anyway, and there was no way i was well enought to wear one out at the track)
So have been tinkering with the idea of buying myself a van, tinker ? Screw that, i'm impulsive ! So i bought me a van, ramp, stands last week and went like a cut cat trying to ready it for the kiwitrack day on friday !
Ok so i failed in getting it warranted but hey i got 28 days lol and at least it was serviced and road worthy !

So 5 am friday morning, i give the Mrs a kick to get her out of bed and we headed off to Taupo !
Brilliant weather, allbeit bloody hot in black (but hehe i have a van and a change of clothes nah nah nah nah na)
Whole lot of new faces from that of the Motott days and as usuall great blokes/lasses !
Spent the morning going out and trying different settings on the 955 (have been taking the 1050 since i purchased it in may, so it was like riding a new bike)
Well buggered if i could get it to stop wallowing a bit in the sweepers, so came to the conclusion that there was nothing i could do with the stock suspension !
Got talking to a couple of guys riding a bonnie and thruxton, best thing i ever did cause one of them put me straight, that i was riding road on the track and wasn't getting my ass off the seat, hence not getting enough weight on the inside peg ! Told me to get my fat lazy ass off at least one cheek and the wallow will go away, who am i to argue ? I know i'm fat !
Came in after the next session and my legs are shaking like never before, (hardly walk the next day, where's my bench press ?) But the wallow was gone and replaced with a grin (stupid grin !)
Well we were running out of time (and leg muscle) so only got one more session after that to practise !
Know one thing, it will be a while before i manage to get both cheeks off haha(lots of gym work) Heidi recons now that i'm playing racer and gettin a cheek off, the knee looks as if it's gettin close, but i don't think i'm anywhere near a touchdown so won't bother with sliders yet ! At least till i have some sticky stickies on the bike and have every thing down pat with timing etc ! When i feel smooth, then i might push another boundary !
So loaded the steed into the van, stripped to me boxers and drove home still grinnin (stupidly)

Next day we were up at 6 again readying the 1050 for the kinsmen poker run out of wellington MC ! Impressive number of bikes lined up when we got there
, they were limited to 150 entries so we just got there in time to enter for the $1000 prize, But must have been a good 200 on the actual ride around the waiarapa !
First stop featherston pub ! Second stop Main st featherston, to pick H up off the road ! Sorry babe, when riding, a tap on yr glove means hang on, not i love you ! Spent the rest of the ride swamped in guilt (tick two for track)
Too many pubs in poker runs these days or riding in general (tick three for track) so when the second to last stop was kiatoke reserve for a few biker games, with more non alcoholic drinks than you could ever want was a refreshing change !
Well won nothing at the end o all that and headed home around 7 pm (to a mates place at least to wish his boy appy birfday, more alcohol flowing so only stayed for a short visit)
Home by 10 shattered and needing sleep !

Up again at 5 sunday morning (pant pant) checked all the gear was in the van and i'm off to the carterton sprints !
What a cool day that is !!! lol thrashing that bike in a straight line !
Thought for the first run of the flying, i'd hold it in each gear till the rev limiter, to get the max i could (hell i don't know) haha well it never hit the limiter in 5th, so there i was at the finish with a gear to spare (like i was counting at that stage ? Hell i wasn't even breathing !)
Ok so knew that when my speedo reads 230 change into top lol then of course there is, get the chin on the tank, the elbows in, toes on the pegs and i think i got the max out of it !
My speedo read 241 k at the finish line but my official speed is 226.5 in the flying 1/4 !
The standing ? well i used to think i got away pretty quick at lights etc but there is deffinately a knack to getting away clean in the 1/4 standing !~
First couple of runs were a mess lol no steering when the fronts 2 ft in the air !
slowly came to grips with it and was all set to set myself a benchmark when the lads said we need a wheelie photo and i was the last in that session, shit shit ok rrrrrr well i aint really a wheely man and aint it funny that when ya dont want to, ya cant keep the front down, but when ya want to lol
So i gave it a crack haha managed to get it up 2 or 3 feet for a few metres after the first two feeble efforts ! The lads at the finish line recon it looked a hard case, up, down, up, down, then i got it up and held it (hopefully long enough for a photo anyway)
Back into the flying 1/4 for a while and then we had another chance to try the standing !
Well i managed to set myself a benchmark there with an 11.563 second run in that session !
Hung around for prize giving to cheer the quick guys on thier times and of course to get the certificate to say my sprint virginity had been broken (and with a memory like mine, i would forget the times i set by the time i got home)

Big thank you to ALL the organisers and marshalls for being there to make a safe fun day at both the tracks, roads and where ever !!!!
    Sooooo much fun !

Have some goals to acheive now, Mods will be happening to the triple in the ensuing months to see what i can get out of it !

I sit here now with AC joint killing me Muscles i can hardly bare to touch and the stupidest grin imaginable !

The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

Think ahead Gubb ! From what i read, i be thinking you will have that striple run in, in a matter of weeks !
Cost you nothing to book ahead, to reserve yourself a place ! Just pay or cancell yr booking in the week beforehand so the organisers aint left hanging till 9.30 on the day to fill ya spot !
They book out pretty quick for the weekend days ! Start in the slow group so ya aint thinkin who's gonna wiz past ya in the corners for the first and i bet ya find it's as addictive as P to a crack hoe !

Exactly. Should be run in a few days.

Looking at doing a Moto TT event sometime soon. Kiwifruit still owes me a freebie.

    S-s-s-super!

Hanging off's the way to go eh. And yes, it's hard on the legs for us fat bastards. I recommend pedalling around Lake Taupo as good training to strengthen up for it.

Yeah i'm chuffed but a funny thing happened watching them guys and ladies out there doing 300+ km in the flying 1/4 !! I want to do that shit !!!
But i guess i'll just have to throw myself out of a perfectly good airplane as planed lol !

And ummmm err i fucked up ! Was only slow prolly 30 or 40 k but the 1050 is all go if ya twist it and i twisted it, but she wasn't dug in so to speak, no grab bar or tail at all for that matter and being in the grasshopper position she just rolled off the back ! locked it up when i felt her hands slide but too late !
Few lessons learnt mate ! She knows what its like to hit the road and i hate guilt ! Oh and that her kevlars aint worth shit and nor is the helmet now !
Glad it was at low speed her jacket was tested !
