Good on you mate, good stuff.
Nice one Dan. All that cycling must do wonders for the legs on the track. Until you mix them up back to back! Amazed you could ride at all after 8hrs of cycling.
It does. Riding on the track's gotten noticeably comfier and quicker over the last two months while I've been cycling regularly. Less sweat, more focus and control.
I was, in fact, taking it easy around the lake. No redlining the heartrate, no stomping on big gears, no chasing anyone who pulled away from me, etc. I had no particular time goals (you'd hope not, with a half-hour break at Turangi), just wanted to see what the course was like and soak up the general atmosphere of the event.
The approach paid off - I didn't get a moment's stiffness or soreness in the days following, and I was as comfy as I've ever been on the track on Sunday.
And the training benefit of the hundred mile ride has been really noticeable on the bike over the last couple of days. I best not waste it!
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.
