    Muay Thai Kickboxing

On Deano's recommendation (Thanks Deano! :niceone) I contacted a Muay Thai kickboxing gym here in Welly and was put on the intake waiting list. Was contacted last week that we could now start coming so to come in and try it out, first lesson free, see how you go.
So on Tuesday evening Kendog, Number One and I rocked on up to the gym and were soon chucked in to doing squats, sit-ups, press-ups and a number of other exercises and stretches I haven't bothered with in quite some time!!
Then off we went to learn how to stand and walk Muay Thai style (Owwww, feel the BURN in the calf muscles! )
Then we were split into smaller groups and taught how to throw left and right punches and practiced on each other (with sparring pad things.... although there was one girl there that was just about knocking us over, took good mental note of her face so not to ever talk back to her on the street!!) and then into some kicks. Some more squats, press-ups and push-ups, cool down stretches and that was our hour done!! I was fucked!!! But felt great and had a ball doing it!!
So we're going back for more tonight even though my body is still aching, especially the front of my thighs (can hardly lower myself on to the loo, owwww!!). We're going to sign up for 9 months and see where that takes us. I figure that it's going to take some time to learn all the things we have to learn, so won't be getting bored, and by the time the boredom starts to set in hopefully the results will be motivation enough to stick with it.

Even tho' I stopped fighting a while back - we still go to the Muay Thai fights often.

My wife's boss is now the NZ Womans champ 55-60kg(?) weight division - its turned out because originally she couldn't think of anything worse than going to watch an evenings fights - but now after supporting her workmate a couple of times she loves coming along with me for the evenings - a bloody good family night out.

If you are ever up this way drop me a PM and I'll take you to one of the fight-nights (assuming there is a night on etc - there is most weeks).

Last one I was at I ended up talking with David Tua for most the evening - he's a pretty cool cat and he is certanly smarter than the o for 'orsum' comment.

Awesome going on the Muay Thai you guys, ive started going to boxing here in Upper Hutt (and its free) and have been absolutely loving it. Its definitely a gut buster of a workout but the time flys. Have also started skipping each night to help with the strength and coordination side of things plus the cardio benefit.

My plan is to drop 20kg(or convert the fat to muscle) this year, as fast as i can.

Is that the club next to the Rugby grounds? My old Judo club (when I lived in Welly) was top floor there. Cool venue

Assuming your post was directed towards mine. I was referring to Bull's post about the Upper Hutt club he mentioned.

    Sorry for any confusion
