Well that was nice of them then. IMHO D rings rule!! Don't like the clips. With D rings you have to tension the helmet strap properly every time you put the helmet on. With the clip type how many people never adjust their strap after the first time?? Saw one guy once with a half inch gap between his chin and the strap - didn't even realise. That's why I personally like D Rings. Any comments?

The CL-14 is different to the one available about 12 months ago!!!
It doesn't have the chin curtain or breath gaurd and it has D-clips instead of the click-in buckle.
Still good buying, it meant that I could also get the mirrored visor that I wanted!

You're absolutely right. Although the Nolan system is the best of both worlds, easy fastening and correct tension each time.

I find D rings to be a pain in the arse to be honest. Far too fiddly. Both my lids (CL14 and a Calberg Jusstisimo) have clips. As it is I'm normaly to last to head off when group riding (jacket, backprotector, ear plugs, radar on, glasses, coffee machine etc), so the last thing I need is to be fiddling with D rings.
But I know where you're coming from. I check my straps daily but haven't needed to adjust them since the first couple of weeks of owning the helmets. I don't think I have anyway.

Yep, I prefer D-rings too. I don't find them difficult to do up, in fact I don't even think about it, it's just an automatic action these days. I found the clips too bulky personally.

I've had several helemts with D-rings, and then two AGVs with buckles. I used to frequently adjust them to make sure they were right. The buckles are much quicker to do/undo (especially with gloves on!) and for that reason when I got my current AGV, I found the D-rings a real pain. However, I got used to it fairly quickly, and now only sometimes find it a nuisance, usually when I want to get my helmet off quickly, and have to first take my gloves off.
I like the vlecro fastening system to stop the end of the strap on my helmet flapping around. My wife has a metal clip (a truly stupid idea) which attaches to the D-ring of her Shoei Raid, and it's such a pain trying to get it to fasten that she has taken to just stuffing the strap end down the neck of her jacket.
... and that's what I think.

I dont trust the clips unles they are metal. To much of a risk of them breaking in a wreck. Most helmets with the D-rings have a ruberband type thing by the rings that you can loop the extra length into to keep it from flapping. I need to get a new one soon cause it doesn't hold to well anymore, but then I:spudwhat: might just buy a new helmet.

I had noticedI would have said that I prefure 'clip' thats what I've had for years, but the new HJC FG I imported from Oz had 'D rings' were as the NZ FG has a 'clip' I thought bugger it....... but as it turns out withen the 1st day I was used to the silly 'D rings' and would proberly say that I now dont mind them.

Yep, got a nice HJC lid for the Mrs from them. (always good service at that shop) 4 colour graphic and less than 150. It has a clip, which she likes.in wellington at tss they are doing HJC CL14's for 150 you can't beat that,

I know heads differ but my AGV gave me headaches from pushing on my ears and is excessively noisey. I bought a Shark and that was heaps quieter than the AGV. I've resorted to 'compacting' some of the padding on the AGV but the noise is still overwhelming. Looks cool though!
Clip vs D-rings, either or....... clips are just more convenient half the time.
