Clutchless gear changes?

Hi There,

Very much a beginner and have a 2007 honda VTR 250, still getting used to everything. I used to do a bit of club track racing a while ago with an RX7 and got quite used to clutchless gear changes at the right opportunities... yesterday while out on a ride i did it by mistake and with out even realizing.

My question is, is this actually something that people do on a bike in terms of general road riding?
