One of the lifeboats from the Wahine.

Just over the fence, they are legendary hoarders.

Has been converted into a proper boat, self-righting I'm told. Doubt it will see water any time soon.

A guy I met at Waitara put in a tender for two of the lifeboats from the Michael Lermentov (sp?). His tender was really low.

He received a reply asking if he'd like to increase his offer.
    He wrote back, "No thanks."

In due course he received two perfectly functional lifeboats. The finish wasn't flash, but then they cost him something like $100 each!

I went out this afternoon for a smoke break from work. Walked down to the bench seat overlooking the childrens playground by the river and low and behold spy a pair of crutches laying there. Look around for the owner, cant spot anyone limping, hopping or even crawling around. Ask the parents in the playground if they saw anyone who might belong to them, no was the answer.

Cant leave them there for someone to steal (again?) so take them back to the I-site where I am working. Ring local Police station to let them know we had them should someone crawl in looking for them. But how weird, a pair of crutches, abandoned.

So come on share your - I found this story...

I found a 92 year old gentalman sitting on a retaining wall not looking to good so backed up asked if he was ok because he didn't look it loaded him in the car and drove him home helped him inside made sure he was ok then went about doing what i was ment to be doing.

Didn't do it for the attention did because it needed to be done.

Good thing too .. I hate it when people are just ignored when they seem to be in trouble .. and often go and talk to them .. and check things out when I can .. its the type of people you guys are!!

Friend was convalescing here, acting like a right stupid child - actually no, a child wouldn't be that stupid. Complaining of chest pain, wouldn't take his angina spray, or his meds with food, nor would he eat, told him if he was that ill to go to dr that day - didn't, got home he's not talking and in pity party big time and stormed out, no goodbye or thank you - He left his angina spray behind and the emergency card that I had asked him repeatedly to wear in his shorts pocket at all times and told me to fk off.

There's stubborness and then there is utter stupidity.
