Thumbs down My Hyobag doesn't play nice

I know this has aaaallllll been said many times before but i thought i should share my on experiences.

I bought my beauty 250 in august. Since then . . . .alot of fun times and ALOT of trouble!

Twice now my chain has come loose while going around a corner (yes i tightened it) so a new one is on its way.

The clutch seems to engage wherever it feels, not where i set it to. I have to adjust it every now and then

and to top it off my front brakes decide to have a fit if i need to apply them suddenly and firmly. It seems like the pistons in the calipers ar sticky. All it needs is a good few solid taps on the calipers and its swet but still, VERY annoying. It makes it hard to reverse and squeaks loudly when i brake

did i mention i've only done 4000km's on it

owell, i just think i've had the worst hyobag experience, couldnt fnd much worse by searching around.

If you've got worse experiences, with any kind of bike please, be my guest and speak up!

    if only i had've got a bandit . . . (they dont look as good anyway but still). . . .

Man i did 25000km on mine and the only problems i had was a clutch cable snap from 4 to 5 on the motorway so i just forced the thing into N when i came to the stop left the bike on the road in the city got the new cable and fixed it on the spot and the other fault was the exhaust gasket after the collecter box kept on blowing out so i gave the pipe a little more bend and she was fine the rest of the time, you must just have a lemon
I want to ride everyday...... Fuck work

That's just basic maintenance -- if you've got a fast-wearing chain (which the cheaper 250s seem to come with -- GN250s just as bad), then check the tension of it once in a while. It only takes 5 seconds; if it's loose, then tighten it before riding. Just like checking oil level; would you ride the bike if you weren't sure how much oil was in it? A chain has to be very, very loose before it will part ways with the sprockets.

The clutch cable setting; check the locknuts at both ends are tightened (handle-bar end and engine end). You may have the locknut on the handle-bar end of the cable nice and tight but people often forget about the other end of the cable.

Does sound like the callipers need looking into, though. Is the bike often stored outside/exposed to rain and damp? One of the bad things about disc brakes is that they can seize up when exposed to the elements. Shouldn't be nasty like that so quickly, surely that would be a warranty issue, unless the dealer tries to tell you you've used the wrong sort of aerosol spray on the wheels or something and it's ruined the rubber seals.

Wazs talking to my service man the other day about my hyo and he mentioned to me about the squeak in the front brakes.
What it is with the hyo is that at low speeds the dust from your pads collects on top. This causes a squeak which is more noticable when the bike is being pushed around, all i do is give it a quick waterblast to clear it out.
I do notice it happens quicker if i only commute to work and back for awhile with no long rides inbetween.

Just my 2 cents (Due to inflation 10 cents) worth
    Happy riding dude.
If you cant fix it with a hammer, Its an electrical problem.

Yea long rides to tend to fix most of the problems, The mechanic at holeshots said tapping the brakes is a good altenative if there is no time for a long ride (or you dont have a waterblaster.) i got the clutch sorted this morning, it lookes like the thread was a bit worn but thats fine now.

As with the chain, it was very loose indeed, the problem turned out to be the nut at the end of the axel wasn't as tight as it could be so the wheel kept sliding (very gradually but enough to make a difference) toward the gearbox. thank god for professional mechanics to figure this out!

would waterblasting really be such a good idea?

Tried changing the brake fluid? Perhaps there are some air bubbles in the hose.

Those problems arent specific to hyosungs mate.
They can and will occur on any bike thats not poperly maintained
Not saying your bike hasnt been looked after, just that its not only a Hyobag problem...

Exactly -- I wonder how many of these supposed Hyosung nightmares are simply due to people (as above) not tightening the axle bolts up properly, or beginners not knowing to check engine oil level, or cross-threading clutch cable locknuts.

Funny how a lot of these problems happen with bikes with a similar target market, like the new Ninja 250Rs, FXR150s, GN250s etc. I know I've done quite a bit of expensive damage to my own bike due to pure ignorance -- slowly learning though!

I've never touched my motorcycle with a spanner, and after nearly 30,000km it ain't given me a lick of trubble since it left the showroom.

Not having a cable clutch helps, I suppose. No lockthreads to crossnut, or whatever.

thats wha i was thinking should happen.

    Well not totally.

I know im not all spanner savvy but I'm learning still as well.

Just to let you know though, went for a nice long ride, the clutch has fixed itself (to a degree) and all is well with the rest of the bike!

    for now
