A month later I call them and they tell me they couldn't actually get the seals as Kawasaki don't make them any more. They made no effort whatsoever to find some second hand ones or even to contact me. He told me that I should try some wreckers but if I can't get some then he doesn't know what to do with the bike. I look on ebay and there's 26 of them. Once the carby seals turn up I take them in and he says the bike's going ok but still not idling very well and needs some other seal replaced. This takes another two weeks to turn up from Kawasaki. I call them once this is sorted and they say it's STILL not idling properly but that I may as well come and pick it up. I get there at 3.30 on a Saturday but they close at 2. My fault of course but then my dad goes in there the following Saturday morning to pick it up and they've taken the fucking thing to bits again to mess with it after they said it was ready. So I wait yet another week and then my dad goes in again to get it. They ask if he has a trailer to take it incase it won't start. They inspect the fuel system and discover THERE IS STILL GUNK IN THE FUEL TANK. Wouldn't this be the first thing you would check? No wonder it won't idle well for fuck sake. He then tells my dad that he thinks this bike's a bit of a dud and that I should sell it and cut my losses. What a wanker.

Overall, I think the guys at this place don't really give a shit about old bikes. They have a Kawasaki dealership and this is undoubtedly where they make the majority of their money. I do not recommend taking any bike here to be serviced and I can't stress enough what a bunch of idiots these guys are.
Without asking him first, I'll reccomend Phil Ford here in Middlemarch, 70 kms up highway 87 from Dunedin when it comes to working on old bikes.....he has a shed of them he's restoring and he's passionate about old bikes and each one he works on....he has a extensive library and follows everything by the book. If a part isn't available then he has it made to factory tolerances. He's not a commercial repair shop but he walks you through and shows and explains everything he does while he does it.....when you leave his garage you actually learned how to do it. just walking through his garage and seeing his rare bikes in different states of restorations is a treat.
A carton of smokes and a bottle of scotch or a case of beer will greatly lessen the charges...last i checked he charges $20 an hour.
I'm sure many here know him...he's been a kiwi biker influence for 20 years.

I was'nt planning to say anything here but my bike is older than yours and i have'nt had a problem with SPV. A lot of bike shops said they could’nt get Diaphragm slides for my carbies on my ZK440 but these guys got them. payed through the nose for them though. I'm happy to go back to them.

If the dealer has indeed done very poorly then fine BUT there are ALWAYS two sides to every story. Have you told them you are posting on here so at least by whatever media they choose they can present their side of the story? I dare say that you do not help your position by some of your emotive statements.
The reality is that many older bikes do get to the stage where they can be absolute mongrels to fix and spare parts supply dries up.

    carbs

Seems like a logical solution to me to just strip out the carbs and send them to this chap. You could go over the rest of the bike while you are waiting too. I have a trailer if you need to move it around

I never had any problems with them, though never dealt with the service side of things

Though do you tell every business/person you bitch about that you are going to do so, so they can defend themselves? Seems a bit silly.
If SPV really want to know what is being said about them then I'm sure they can use a search function.
Should the original poster have talked to them about their perception of poor service? No doubt.
But some people just need to vent sometimes and I'm sure most people are smart enough to not judge a place by one persons online bitch

By the way what the fuck is up with

For the record I personally do not have much time for the said dealership, for completely different reasons. But having said that if a dealer is being badmouthed publicly ( and forums are VERY public ) then they have a right to know and therefore have the opportunity to defend themselves with their side of the story. Contrary to what many may think not everyone frequents forums and the mind boggling forms of media.
Forums often cross a line that is in the territory of libel. If the ZXR owner is so bitter and twisted he has the option of a small claims court, he may win, he may lose. But venting so publicly is just not on, especially if the dealer is in fact ''correct'' How much business is unjustly lost because of same?

What I was trying to get across is how is it any different to someone bitching about them to anyone and everyone they come across?

Most people I know read/listen to things with a grain of salt, take what they will from each snippet of information they recieve.
Not all people are retarded, we all know there is two sides to every story

One pilot screw was 4 turns out and the other was half a turn out when I got it back from MCR so it was pretty unbalanced. They should have been about 1.5 turns each.
