FFS. Why are they playing cricket in Dunedin at this time of year? And why isn't the India v England test being covered by Sky? There are few pleasures in life better than watching the poms getting flogged at a sport they invented.

What use is that to the speedy and enjoyable completion of a cricket test?

Probably about one Billion people - as opposed to Rugby which is only really popular in this country.

I did wonder about why Dunedin too. Feb would be better surely?

Ain't gonna happen, at least in this test:

England won the toss and decided to bat
    England 1st Innings
    316 all out (128.4 overs)

    India 1st Innings
    241 all out (69.4 overs)

    England 2nd Innings
    244 for 3 (80.0 overs)

OK then, I'll play along. Apart from lawn bowls, pool, billiards and their variants, name another multi-ball "sport" that is more exciting than cricket?

It is more the fact that there are substantially more interesting sports out there to watch.
A game that takes five days to come to a draw, is not one of them.

I love my test cricket as any real sports fan does.
Its the purest form of the game.

I think its a great innovation and about time.
These decisions can be so vital to the outcome of a match.

It adds another strategy to the game and will stop some of the unsporting conduct you never saw in the old days.
Would not imagine you would find many test crickets lovers here.

    A lot more 20 20 fans no doubt .
All people want is a show now days.
I bet most of you heathans dont like watching golf either

Cricket is the sporting version of a governent department.

Invented by people who didnt work for a living yet get dressed up nice and appear to be doing something meaningful (the aristocracy)
Made so an absolute maximum of 2 people would have to do any work at any one time yet the rest of the team looked ready to work at any moment. (or just sat out of sight relaxing.)
Can make an excuse for going overseas as much as possible.
Can make a single project (run back and forth between 2 points as much as possible) take DAYSSSSSS and not even run that many times. Heck they made it the better you get the less you run.
It allows its supporters to have an excuse for not doing anything for days because they are monitoring what the first group is doing (or more accurately not doing because at any on point, no more than 2 guys are actively doing anything on either team)
They are able to ask greater amounts of money for doing this, just because nobody else can do quite what they do or dont do.

    Tis a wonderful sport/opera
