Yep, bringing food and water is always a good idea. The hotdog cart is often open but if it isn't it is only a short ride into Fielding for supplies if required. It's often a good idea to remove mirrors, thus removing the temptation to use them.
Also, just been informed by Carla Schollum of Swann insurance that peeps insured with them are covered for our track day as well. It would probably pay to let them know first though Might be time for me to change my insurer I think.

I chased this today and found that my excess which is normally $500 is going to be $2000 is this normal?! At least two other people I know have not had to suffer an increased excess for this day.

    S. It's a trackday, simply don't crash luv. Then it wont matter what the hell your excess is.

Edit: Quite frankly, I can't believe there's anyone prepared to offer insurance at ALL, given your taken surname. What the hell do you guys know I don't?

Sorry mate. I wouldn't know. My lot wont even cover my road-bike at a track day.

Clive, I don't mean to make assumtions or be rude but....

You're a shaven baldhead, and you're Maori. What are you doing on an Aprillia in the first place?

Indeed actually the person I got my surname from is the other rider of the bike so perhaps that is the issue

Anyway I'll be going to slow to crash...even slower now with a $2000 excess

I called insurance to day and my excess is also increased to $2000. They made it very clear tho that I do not have any DEATH cover....
    What's the point anyway?!?!?

I'm covered and no change to excess. I have one question, are leathers a requirement? Will I be allowed on the track in draggin jeans and a leather jacket? What about cordura pants? What about back protectors?

Yes I understand the dangers of not having leathers. And I think we are all adults here and can take responsibility/consequences for our actions. I just need a word from the organizers if its actually a requirement. I plan to go in the slow group as it will be my first track day.

The question about safety gear is a toughie for us. At the moment we are thinking that we will allow draggin jeans or similar in the novice group only. As mentioned, this is totally at the rider's risk. All other groups will be required to wear a minimum of cordura riding gear+ decent boots + gloves. Back protectors recommended but not compulsory.
In all seriousness, I believe that the trackday evironment will be safer than the road. We will be closely monitoring rider behavior and nobody goes out wanting to crash. The risk of binning is no greater than when we ride on the road, the possible consequences of binning are less serious than on the road.

Sorry fizzafulla. With the degree of interest we have had it looks like we will have the 120 places filled. It wouldn't be fair on others to have 2 spots taken for the price of one.
