Quick question...do you need a civil bike licence to be able to ride the track day?
I have a friend that has been riding off and on dirt bikes for years and wants to ride in the novice class with other first timers but does not have a licence.

    Howdy all.
There is no requirement to have a licence for track days. It is not a public road, and as this is not an MNZ event an MNZ licence isn't required. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE WILL ALLOW PEOPLE WHO CANNOT RIDE COMPETENTLY, ONTO THE TRACK. Just to be clear, this is not a learn to ride your bike day. If you can ride but don't have a road licence you are welcome. If we see anyone out there who is a danger to themselves or others they will be removed from the track. No appeals and no refund. See you all there.

I've not been impressed with the promised weather, so...no, you won't see me there
Hopefully the rest of you do have a good one anyway
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Well, I got to be there bro. Manfield is a tricky place with the weather and it's a gamble alright. However, I've seen enough forecast rain that never eventuated to remain optimistic. I'm taking the Honda just in case I get a chance to play.

That was the best track day I have ever been to
The sessions turned around very quickly and everyone knew exactly what was going on at all times.

Riders on the track by 9.00am was fantastic, by lunch time it felt like we had done a full days track riding already.

Thanks to the organisers/marshals etc, you guys rock.

And a huge thanks to Flame for her time and advice. Having you on the track to follow was an inspiration and it really helped me and the others out there

Hell yeah! Exactly what my dearest hubby above just said, awesome track day, smooth as silk, cheap as chips and great fun.
Massive thanks again to Flame, it's not everyday you get to follow your hero around the track and have them give you advice, so appreciated V. I got so much out of your advice and track time with you!!
Thanks to all the marshals and organisers for such an awesome day.
for my hunny for letting me nick off with his bike for the "ladies ride", I love your bike (on the track).

    Thanks use fullas.
It was classic Manfield with the wet and windy morning filtering out the ambivalent; and the brilliant dry, traction-blessed afternoon rewarding the keen. The club volunteers were awesome with everyone knowing what was required 30 seconds before it was needed. Such a cool crew.
The novice group was a highlight for me. Flame and her darksiders learning her Jedi lines through the infield was brilliant. How long till that lot start turning up on the grid in the Winter Series?

i had a shocker. had a really busy night last night and then had to work this morning. got a couple of hours sleep in and was rearing to go being finshed work at 645am. then the rain came. I argued with myself about going over to the track and sitting out the wet sessions but looking at the forcast it looked pretty set so came home and fell asleep on the couch. Woke to find it had dried out and was kicking myself I should have HTFU and gone over.
I am sure everyone had a great time and looking forward to seeing some photos from the day

your a softy .... it was fine for over half the day... and HOT....

one thing though.. i didn't feel sorry for that guy who taped up his oil filler hole (where the cap had fallen off earlier).. then fell off in front of me, casing 2 others to fall,
i think the next time at riders brief, we should say that IF they are concerned about a "repair", they should get us to LOOK at it before they go back out on the track....

we were VERY lucky that the oil was on his rear tire and off the race line...

the rest of the riders were fantastic, it was great to see the lines the good riders (racers AND road riders) were taking through "splash"... every time i was wondering.."is that the line i take?" then luke flies by on a borrowed 150.... na i don't, bugger!..lol

    what a ride so far!!!!

That guy was clearly told by 1 of the officials in the morning after lossing his engine oil cap that his bike was unrideable and unsafe with oil all over the back wheel at that stage. When checking the bike out he had ducktaped the oil filler hole which he was told by the same official that it was unacceptable.
He then indicated that he was going to go back home. An announcement was made over the PA asking if anyone had a oil cap for his bike to which no-one came forward with 1. He then came into the sign in office asking if he could be refunded for only doing 3 laps, which indicated that he was packing up and leaving the track.
As the weather cleared around lunch time the day was finally starting to look promising and more bikes were venturing out onto the track.
Next minute there was a 3 bike pile up into essess and who was the 1 who caused it, the guy who told us that he was packing it in because of his missing oil cap
How stupid must you be to ride a bike with a back wheel soaked in oil, he should have known better and not caused the mahem he did.

what a fantastic day. by far the best track day I've done.
I can't believe i made it through the wet sessions only to bin it on a perfectly dry track grrrr. fortunately no damage done...(to the bike at least )
I have to say the 'Medium' class was a whole lot better(and quicker) than the week before. Nice work
so where's the pics? there were a few cameras around again
