Thank you all for for your input, I never realised what a militant group we are.

To top it all off my step father is undergoing open heart surgery today, I have been at the hospital with him, I found out that the bandit, even with me on it, isn't heavy enough to trigger the traffic control arms.

so I just went around them....

There is something deeply wrong with having to pay to use a car park in a hospital when my taxes and rates paid for said hospital in the first place...

This is getting to be a stressful week, I do hope mr painter muppet doesn't try and push any buttons

My mother's last years saw her cheque book permanently open to thieves and bleeding heart charities.
Started with the Kirby vacuum cleaner ($2400) which turned out to be too heavy for her, so she had to purchase a standard cleaner she could manage.
Then came the $3500 vibrating cushion (but hey, the chick selling it was a nurse so it must be good)!
FAI home security alarm for $2500 I think, that made too much noise and scared her, so that had to be pulled off the wall and stuck in a cupboard (she got a free fire extinguisher though)!
There were constant silly purchases, but the biggest piss off was her home help. That bitch’s sob story had my mother supplying her with fuel vouchers and helping pay her electricity account. You might not think that too bad, but this continued even when the bitch shifted 500km to Auckland and was no help to my mother at all! She and her boyfriend also used to bludge accommodation regularly and get this. The fuckwit boyfriend (50+ Bogan) had the cheek to tell my sister that my folk’s bed was useless for rooting on!
I was only informed about the home help after my mother’s funeral. Fuck, was I mad!

What is it with the elderly and their inability to say no?

Rant over and best of luck GTRMAN sorting out that prick!!!

FFS, and that person is meant to be caring for the health of your stepfather. I hope you get his money back, and then find the time to report him to his boss. What a lowlife; but sad reading this thread and realising he is far from the only one ripping off older peolple.

    update:

Well folks, got the money back with no problems. now drafting a letter to his employer to outline the situation, my brothers seemed saddened by the fact that it was sorted so quickly....

Thanks for all the encouragement and offers of help.

you may find the employer knows (maybe even gets a kickback?) so do copy your letter to Age Concern also. The best solution for corruption like this is fresh air.

Good outcome, GTRMAN. I would also be disappointed if this had no consequences for the guy, and especially if he managed to keep on doing it.

There are probably dozens of elderly/vulnerable people out there right now who have been ripped off by this nasty person and are too ashamed to tell anybody what has happened to them. I hope that by bringing it out in the open his employer will launch an investigation and try to find out who else he has ripped off.

If not, just let me and your brothers loose on him.

Good on you for getting the money back and I'm pleased to hear you are also reporting him to his employers, nasty piece of work.

I wish my in-laws were so gullible - they ring us up and say they need 'a few branches' trimmed off their tree in the front yard. We turn up with the pole saw and are still there two hours later, after doing a major hacking job on said tree! They seem to be of the "why keep a dog and bark yourself" school of old folk!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
