3 more sleeps... (Before entries close)

I've just sent this out to the 50 or so youngsters down south regarding the National support class, Streetstock. Sorry it's such a long ramble, but it might be of interest outside my mail list, especially North Islanders. I hope some young ones up there see this as a viable and valuable exercise to come and compete on 3 fantastic circuits amongst their peers. Even more, I hope the older members in the sport can provide a bit of time and effort to help get some young ones down. It doesn't cost much more to throw in a 150 and a
fella (or fella ess, (lots of girls racing down here))
    Any q's just PM me

As most of you know, Streetstock forms a support class during the 3 South Island rounds of the national championship
We have had this class now for about 4 years, and it has been very successful in providing a series as close as you'll ever get to National Championship.

At each round the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters in the teenagers category are awarded at the prizegiving. At the final prizegiving, in Christchurch, the overall winners are awarded as well, with 2 categories.
Streetstock Senior, (over 19 years old)
    Streetstock (under 20 years old)

Streetstock Senior to have Red numbers (Streetstock Black)
When you enter, remember to note this on your entry if you are 20 or over.

There is a great website dedicated to the championship. www.castrolroadracing.co.nz. Here you will find heaps of good information including entry forms.
Also, don't be shy about contacting the site with photos and profiles of yourself. They're very keen to know all about young ones who are making the sport's future. This information can be used to promote our class on the site, and in the commentaries at each round. Very important!

Over the years we normally have had about 25 at Teretonga, 35 at Levels and a few more at Ruapuna. So if you can't do them all, then choose a round or two you can do. The main thing is to join in. There is a BUT though and especially at Levels we must be careful to ensure the riders have a minimum level of competence. This means a number of our relative newcomers are best to sit it out and just watch these rounds. This is for the safety of everyone and fairness to the really fast front runners who are looking for a "clean" track throughout the race. I'm sure you see this as good sense. I pretty well know where all the riders are in this regard, so if you have any doubts, please contact me and I'll help out. Thanks SAFETY FIRST

Make sure you're bike is well prepared, and where possible carry spares. If you're in a group / team, some "communal" spares is a good idea. I will be at all the rounds and will bring as much as I can, plus 1 or 2 spare bikes ready to go. With a really big problem, it's just a case of swapping the bodywork and transponder then you're away again. I will also bring a heap of wheels so in case of flatties or weather changes (slick to tread tyre change). I can help here. Those with slicks on the front I suggest a spare wheel "ready to go" or a good treaded tyre and some handy tyre changing skill. Note the rule that requires the steward to declare the race "wet" after which the rider must have treaded tyres. This "wet" declaration also allows a time period to change tyres prior to the race. Tyres are expensive but this the time to get the new ones on. Don't forget to scrub them in properly. Any questions on this just ask me.

Before the nationals take your bodywork off and give the bike a good clean. Not only does this present it well, but a lot of little matters can show up with the close look cleaning requires. We want all the bikes that go out to come back. NO bits blowing up, falling off or bikes running out of fuel!!!
And bits falling off include the riders. Yes, ride to your ability. There will be a lot of interest in this class so let's show how we race with skill while keeping it safe and with good sportsmanship.
Last year the last two races had a huge feild, and both races saw NOT ONE yellow flag, with every bike returning to the pits.
This is the standard we're at now, please, let's all work to keep it there. Thanks.

The entry forms are available of various sites www.mnz.co.nz or www.castrolroadracing.co.nz

PLEASE NOTE it's only 3 days away from entries closing for Teretonga. After that it'll COST MORE. The other rounds are a bit later, but PLEASE get them in now, as the club needs the riders list early to ensure they're in the programme.
In your entry form, don't forget your sponsors. May of you young ones mightn't think you have sponsors, but I bet you have.
Anyone who helps you in your sport is a sponsor. Think about it and give them the recognition in the programme.
    It costs nothing DO IT
Please also let me know your plans for entries so I can give an advance list direct to the organizers. Thanks

Don't forget if you have a transponder you will just need to enter your number on the form. This saves you $210 over the three rounds, so if you're thinking of buying one, now is the time. A large amount of it's value will be paid off in these 3 weeks!

At each round there will be unofficial practice on the Friday. This will be structured with separate classes and in previous years there have been enough Streetstock riders to allow this. Turn up on the day, but if you're planning this already let me know. I can arrange training as required.

    That's about it.
It'll be another exciting championship, and between our races there will be plenty to watch. With every year more and more of your own young freinds are out there doing it with the nations best in Pro Twin, 125GP and 600Sports Production
Have a great Christmas, be good and help Mum and Dad (that'll make sure you get to go racing in January)
If you need any help with anything, let me know

    All the best
    Peter
