Hello from sunny Scotland - deliriousthunder

It's not really sunny, in fact there's a fair bit of rain most of the time... but anyway...

I'm Tom, been riding for about a year and a half I guess.. Started on a CBR125, don't mock, that bike was a lot of fun!

Moved on to an XJ600 and found out the hard way that there are actually limits to how fast you can ride (or how far you can lean at least) Have a scar on my knee to remind myself of that now..

Eventually sold the XJ600 and bought an RVF400, but licensing laws over here mean I would have to restrict it to 33bhp to ride it legally So I've decided to store it till my license restriction period ends..

So, yesterday I bought myself a Yamaha SRX250 I was riding it home, (about 50 miles I think), and the battery died and the engine cut out

Turns out the reg/rec unit is fried, which has also fried the battery..

I know that over in NZ there are a lot more 250s (no-one really bothers with them over here, our laws are different, you start on a 125, then you move to anything you want with a 33bhp limit)

So I really joined to ask if anyone here has a pdf of an SRX250 manual, and/or might be able to source a replacement reg/rec unit for one..

Maybe someone could point me in the right direction? (I'm assuming this isn't the best place to post a manual/part request)

    Thanks,

    Welcome to KB!

RVF!! Nice work! Bloody reg/rec issues *mutter*! I had the same issue on an older honda. Keep an eye on them!
Best of luck with your search!

    Thanks,
Yeah I would suggest you re-post this request in General Maintenance or somewhere, with the request in the title field. Enthusiasts will be along in their droves to tell you about their experiences with the bike (no guarantees about the manual though, looks like they're hard to find).

    No! Don't tempt fate

The reg/rec issues are with the SRX. The RVF is pretty much mint, and I'm hoping there will be no such issues with it

I'm looking forward to getting back on the RVF next year.. Just hope it doesn't rot while it's stored

Well, some people say "Bonnie Scotland", which is true, but I prefer an ironic sense of humour to a plain statement..

    Thanks for the welcome

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Typo? Meant 'drecht'? And she left for the antipodes in 1956. Grew up in the greystone tenements (Elm Bank St) which are long gone.

Nah, bricht is another way of saying bright..

E.g. "It's a braw bricht moonlicht nicht the nicht"

--> Translation: "It's a good bright moonlit night tonight"

"Good" doesn't really sum up "braw", but I don't really know how to translate that accurately.

Never spent much time in Glasgow anyway, an East coast man myself. Never liked the city for some reason, can't quite put my finger on it.
