Another huge blaze, this time at Hugo Johnston drive, 2 minute walk from my work. Had quite a scare, but thanks G-d no one got hurt and our office is safe (at least for now).

"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule
Hmmm. Times are tough.
Lots of buildings seem to catch fire when the economy takes a downturn.![]()
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Sometimes uncharitably referred to as a "Jewish stocktake"...
Abandoned buildings like the old Southdown meatworks are probably a target for all manner of mischief.

We're right next door. The progress of the fire has been relentless.
Metrowater turned up at 10.30 pm to turn off water to the site, so we are limited production wise until the fire is out.
Oh well, better than watching SKY.![]()
That was a mean fire. Saw it on my way to huntly. The smoke covered south east auckland. Poor bastards would've been choking badly with all the smoke

Just had the Metrowater guys back on site. They got told by the firefighters that there is another 12 to 18 hours worth of firefighting left. They are basically in containment mode.
Geez, those guys don't get paid anywhere near what they are worth.
Do they get paid at all? Many firefighters are volunteers.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Volunteers are usually found in rural areas, but I tip my hat to them all.
Saw the smoke from out house on a hill at the edge of auckland...wondered where it was coming from...
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
