    Cemetary Circuit "Practice"

I reckon that having the first 2 laps of practice under a yellow flag is a joke, the practices are too short to piss around.
Imagine if Craig Sherrifs got stuck behind a slow rider and couldnt pass, and whoever goes out first can actually ride properly and sort suspension etc, the whole idea of practice is to........... practice!
The purpose apparently is to make sure the brakes and tyres are warmed up first - mmmm. I think it is a load of crap.

Did you maybe think that those two laps let you see what bumps have developed or been removed during the year since you last raced there, and whether they are on line or not, they might also let you see where the flag marshall positions are so that you dont pass under yellow flag conditions thereby endangering yourself, your fellow competitors AND the Track Workers..

I think for people new to the event it isn't a bad idea but that should be on top of normal qualifying allowed time.
The Manfeild event was used as a test for Boxing day and there was some confusion.
Initially qualifying was only going to be 2 yellow laps then just 4 for qualifying. Just those laps to do scrub, bed in brakes and try to get a clean hot lap.
My suggestion for organisers would be to use a megaphone at briefing so everyone can actually hear. Maybe helping to allow people to raise concerns.

I don't think it will do any harm for even the most experienced riders to do a couple of laps to re-learn the circuit. No one has ridden it for at least a year and it has almost certainly changed since then. I am sure the top teams can get their shit together enough to be at the front of the grid for the practice. Craig Shirrifs will only be stuck behind a slower rider until the green flag . It will be the SAME for everyone (I HOPE !!!), one of the things about a "street" circuit, everyone gets the same amount of time to practice, set up and qualify. No matter what your budget you can't get a couple of days to dial in your bike. Craig Shirrifs only needed 4 laps at Manfield to get pole position anyway and the front row of the grid were 3 seconds clear of the next row in qualifying.

    I DON'T think its crap

I was under the impression there was going to be a "special" practice session for first timers in addition to the "normal" practice, I had better check the info I got with my acceptance letter ?

I agree that Manfield was confusing - partly because the PA there SUCKS and partly because the plan was changed at the riders briefing and then something completely different altogether eventuated !!!!

So are you saying you can go hammer and tongs from the start of a session ???

I will wait at the third corner for you . Do you want a room with a view at hospital or just the ventilator suite next to the wheel chair hoist.??

I'd have thought that a walk around the track the day before would let one see the track condition better than 2 laps on the day?

I don't disagree with the rule though, it will be a good time for those with new tyres to scrub them in and the good riders won't let themselves get held up.

anyhow, for me I am happy to get a few laps in to sight in the track a bit, especially behind an experienced Wanganui campaigner.
Rather this than into a bale because I got it wrong

Bike is all good too (I'd have done that but didn't have one). Even though my plan of attack changed big time once out on the track, it certainly felt a lot better going out there with one.

Hook up with Gav and Steve and follow them around, they should know what they're doing
