Hutt Valley newbie (Cloggy)

Good evening all,

Another newbie here from the Hutt Valley (Wainuiomata actually). Been riding for about nine months now. On my restricted license at the moment and looking forward to getting my full license around early March in the new year. I am getting around on a 2008 Yamaha Scorpio which I ride every day to work, come rain, hail or shine. Absolutely love it. Looking forward to making some new friends on here and go on a couple of rides. Will keep my eyes posted on the regular rides threads I have seen on here and will turn up at these over the next couple of weeks.

First couple of times over the Wainui hill in strong gusty conditions was a little unnerving but practice makes perfect. I am still far from getting anywhere near what anyone could remotely call experienced but everyday I gain a little more knowledge, a bit more confidence. Learn about my own and the bike's capabilities and limits.

Why is that?
Cloggy has been my nickname for a long as I can remember. Came over to NZ from the Netherlands as a little boy some 27 odd years ago. My mates started calling me Kraut first until I pointed out that I wasn't german. With the Netherlands famous for its clogs, the next name was Cloggy. That one just stuck.
