That's why it is called "fishing" instead of "catching"...
Keep up the good work though!! Piccies of decent catches please!

See? All you needed was a bit of ridicule.

    You're welcome.

You could've done that at morning tea. One more scone would have been all it took too.

Weeeeelll. So much for Bill Hohepa's Maori Fishing calendar eh?

The fishing is supposed tobe shite all weekend. And here's me with a new rod to try out.

What's a man to do then?

Where did you say this Kahawai and his mates were hanging out?
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Fark! Got up at 5am (yes 5am) and had a lazy breckkie - took the kayaks down to Raumati South slipway (down by Queen Eziabeth Park)... sun just coming up, lazy breeze... Super...

Suited up, paddled out and had a few nibbles, little kawahi n shit then noticed a commotion coming down the tide, birds, water heaving - yippee..

Paddled into the path and was truely amongst it...

Kawahi after bait fish, biggest boil up I've seen for yonks, birds diving a paddle length from the kayak, fish leaping - it was like being in a nature programme on tv....

It was impossible not to catch fish.. Had some epic tussles (OK - not exactly hemmingway but epic for me) and brought one home (mid size, it fitted in the net) to prove in... Fark that was FUN FUN FUN! Reel screaming, little rod bent double... Woo Hoo.... Hilarious!

Riffer - try Petone warf at high tide...

I wonder if I can get hold of my brothers old surf ski.... it sits in his shed with his m bike, GS1000, another surf ski and other goodies.

I think marrage took control of his life.

Petone wharf used to be good a few years ago. I've heard tell that since the artesian water stopped there that the fish have gone elsewhere. Might still be worth a try though.

We've had a bit of success off the end of Point Howard but really the only good fishing seems to be on really ordinary days.

    Nice catch Paul.
