New to Levin & builder wanted

    Hi,
Will be new in the area on 16th Jan (Moving day, Yeh!!). Coming up from Porirua, but I will be still commuting full time to Wellington (lots of bike time!) until the work from home thing gets sorted.

Is anyone who hangs out here a builder (or know a good one)?
I've got some work that I will be wanting done, I will need help with consents and stuff but it should be straight forward (famous last words).

    Cheers
    James

Hi James, you will enjoy living in Levin, its a nice quiet town and much more relaxed that Porirua. My wife grew up there and i grew up in Shannon. You may be better using a local Levin builder as it will be cheaper, i can ask a friend that is a gib stopper down there, he will know who to use and not to use. If you get stuck I am a builder and have my own business which includes a kitchen joinery shop and have 5 or 6 builders that work for me as well as 4 joiners, but we live and work from Palmerston North so will more than likely be a little more expensive
Plenty of good tradesmen there just make sure you choose carefully, they need to be either Certified builders or master builders which gives them a little more credability. Talk to some of thier previous clients and you will soon get a picture of thier workmanship and integrity.
    Good luck with the move
    James (yep my name too)

Cheers for that, I will be in touch when we have landed...
    If we land that is!

The moving companies are being really slow to get back to us with quotes.
Of the companies that bothered to call us back:
    * One has just not turned up three times after arranging to meet.
    * The last one turned up on Monday but still hasn't sent the quote.

Last time I moved I seem to remember having to fend off the barrage of moving companies!
