    Photographers at the racing scene

Be very very carefull who you ask to take photo's for you, especially if your sponsors require/demand them.

My whole pit image at the Wanganui races has been lost, sorry Continental tyres and Ricoh office copiers ( I know mistakes happen but)

And then at Taupo, a women was wondering around the pits and came over and said she was a photograper, and was going to be doing the MotoTT track day photo's from Jan, and as MotoTT crew have done a lot for me, I run there logo's all over the bike, so I asked her to take an action shot ( Which I said I would pay for and 2 other were there at the time) displaying the main sponsors on top of the petrol tank, GUESS what NO CONTACT!

So as I said, BE very carefull, as sponsors need these for marketing or tugging joy.

So called pro photographers seem to be sprouting up all over the show at the moment, no doubt the digitisation (not sure if this is a real word but if not it should be) of cameras has something to do with it, photographers used to have to think a bit more before clicking when expensive film was being used. I appreciate he's not at every meeting but when he is I can't see how anyone could go past Euan Camerons work, consistantly NZ's premier motorsport snapper who must have been traipsing the tracks for nearly 40 years and it shows.

What is your bike number from the weekend?
I may have taken a picture of you on the track.

Thanks Kendog, but it was specific phot's for sponsors I requested and really needed.

Kevin ( From New Plymouth and off this site) took a few as well, and they are some of the very best quality photo's I have ever seen.

    Cheers Kev

Rcktfsh is right. It seems now that anyone who rocked up and bought a begining of the line d40 seems to think that a few photo's they have taken of a bike jumping in the air or doing a burnout qualifies for the new website they have created for "so and so PRODUCTIONS" or "three4eight photography". Rice does mainly MX/SX but he is good at what ever he does and I saw him at paeora last year taking pictures. I love how much color he manages to fit into the photo's without it seeming harsh on the eyes or tacky before he even touches the picture with the computer. Maybe you should give him a try.

I appreciate anyone who wants to take time out to stand about in the hot sun or pouring rain to take pics of us riding about and unless I am specifically paying someone to take pics for me then hey whatever they take is all good by me, good on them.

I agree and form another point of view. A number of times at taupo i was very concerned for the saftey of SOME of the photographers, for exaple sitting or kneeling in the center of turn 1 if a bike had gone wrong in a big way they could not have gotten out of the way in time.
Also (i think the same photographers) had set up catching bikes coming towards them around a corner. If a bike had gone strait they would have been hit.

The person that may have been the one taking those photos could be by the name of bridget unsure of the last name but she was talking to my mother who was also out there said she was only taking photos of select few.

yeah saftey is a issue for them regardless of where they are kneeling helps to bring the bike into full focus with the track, you dont seem to mention the wally out there in is deck chair taking photos, kneeling vs sitting I know that the people who kneel would have a better chance of moving then the deck chair. all photographers have to sign forms etc before going out there also marshalls also have a say on where they are also if race control feel that they are in a unsafe place they get told to move via marshals also its safer for them to be inside then on the outside so maybe we shouldnt be knocking them so much because with there help is what helps us in magazines programes stuff the sponsors like to see where there money is going.
also in the bucket race i noticed that the marshals had there hands full with a fallen rider in the middle of turn 3 no yellows were out so 2 photographers in there fluro vest were waving riders down to slow down its not something they should be doing nor being involded with however without them doing that it could have been far worse then what it was.
    cheers
